2. The abuse of the English language by purportedly educated media and talking heads
Edited on Sat Apr-17-10 10:26 PM by BrklynLiberal
is astounding. Rules that I learned in grammar school are being ignored everywhere..Newscasts, commercials and commentary.
No one knows what an adverb is these days. And forget about the distinction between fewer vs less.

3. Me too, the fewer/less thing irks me no end.
It's not that fucking hard to use the correct term, FFS.

7. ABUSE?
Its not ABUSE, its 'merely' demonstrating ignorance.

5. I'm sorry, but Maryland is not to blame for the delays. Delaware, yes, but
not Maryland.

6. Supposedly, it's been a mess in Sydney
We have to fly this week out of SYD- but thankfully it's through the domestic terminals to Perth in WA.

One can only imaging what some of the major US international hubs must be like.

11. Actually, I believe that "across" is the appropriate language for this particular situation -
The cloud and the delays are not surrounding the planet, they are not circling the globe. The cloud and the delays seem to be in a linear fashion across Europe. Seems to me that the word "across" is more appropriate in this situation.

Just because a globe is a sphere doesn't mean that something must always go entirely around it.
