Grassroots group seeking to roil Jewish political waters

PHILADELPHIA – A group of Jewish activists and academics will mark the state of Israel's independence day Sunday with a declaration of political independence of their own by launching a grassroots movement of Jewish Americans for Sarah Palin.

President Obama's growing rift with Israel is sparking powerful emotions in the American Jewish community and could have an electoral impact both this year and in 2012. Jewish Americans for Sarah Palin hopes to accelerate that trend.

"We have long admired Gov. Palin for her thoughtful positions on a range of issues, such as fiscal responsibility, health care, energy independence and against Islamic terrorism, not to mention her wonderful charisma and her role model as a highly successful working mom," Benyamin Korn, the group's founder and its website's editor, told WND.

"But the ugly fight that Obama has picked with Israel is stirring American Jews to action," Korn said, "and Gov. Palin has emerged, by far, as the president's most effective public critic."

Korn emphasizes that JewsForSarah.com is not connected to Gov. Palin, nor is it specifically endorsing her for any political office. The group's mission statement says it is "dedicated to promoting consideration of Gov. Sarah Palin's political positions in the wider American Jewish community."

I know and deal with regularly many people of jewish background. I have yet to find one who supports Sarah, except as an object of ridicule. Come to think of it, that applies to muslims, christians and nonbelievers I know, too.

Wait. There is one exception. my father thinks that she's beautiful and brilliant, and her supposed stupidity is simply an act. He points to her $12 million income as proof that she is outsmarting us. He almost had me convinced, when he said, "And George W. will go down as one of our best presidents ever."

but they seem to have done a pretty good job of covering their tracks. That, in itself, is curious.

They don't have a donation link. If they accepted donations they would have to reveal some information about themselves. To me this says that most likely their anonymity is more important to them than funding is. It also likely indicates that they have all of the funding they need. That would seem to point to it being something other than a grassroots organization.

Just like others in this thread, this American Jew does not subscribe to the verbose and destructive politics of the Likud (the Israeli equivelent of the Neo Cons) and the supposed "anger" with President Obama.

Sad to say there are some Jews in this country that are racist...the thought of a "schvarzer" as their leader is just as bad as the most rabid teabagger. This, of course, flies in the face with the similar discrimination Jews suffered and was a major reason why there were so many Jewish Americans walking hand in hand with the Civil Rights marchers in the 60s, but these self-hating Jews are totally ignorant...blinded by their own racism. Shameful.

Just like with the teabaggers, this segment is a fraction of the overall Jewish population that voted for President Obama at over 80% and I expect they'll be just as strong in 2012.

My brother was going to vote for McCain because of Israel. When McCain picked Palin, my brother promptly declared his disgust for McCain and voted for Obama instead.
