Dow Chemical hosted their "Run for Water", majority of attendees were activists dressed as zombies
April 19, 2010
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DOW THROWS A DISMAL PARTY, FEW ATTEND
Underattended "Run for Water" plagued by death scenes, zombies, and dozens of "Dow spokesmen"; truth seems to run free

Brooklyn, NY -- Bucolic Prospect park in Brooklyn, NY played host to a bizarre spectacle on Sunday, as a dramatically under-attended Dow-sponsored "Run for Water" was infiltrated and turned upside down by hundreds of furious activists, including a hundred dressed as Dow spokespeople.

New Yorkers who came to the park expecting a light run followed by a free concert found themselves unwitting extras in a macabre and chaotic scene as runners keeled over dead, Dow-branded grim reapers chased participants, and a hundred fake Dow representatives harangued other protesters and and handed out literature that explained Dow's greenwashing program in frank detail.

The actions called attention to Dow's toxic legacy in places like India (the Bhopal Catastrophe), Vietnam (Agent Orange) and Midland Michigan (Dioxin Contamination), and to the absurdity of a company with serious water issues all over the world sponsoring the Live Earth Run For Water.

1. If only they had been teabaggers protesting against "big government"
If they had demonstrated in favor of corporate interests they would be getting wall to wall coverage right now.

2. hurray for the Brooklyn Action at the DOW walk!
I love this stuff. I know it didn't get the coverage the Baggers get, but our time is approaching.

Joseph Campbell said that humor enters the back door of the consciousness when the front door is shut tight to new ideas.

4. I like what the anti-Dow activists did...
...but when I followed the "theyesmen.org" link in your post, my Norton antivirus software gave me a warning that the "W97M.Thus.A" virus was in a document on the site. Here is the link to Norton's warning about the site:

6. Thanks for the warning...
I did not get that message when I visited, but I guess we shouldn't download anything from their site until they clean the virus off their system.

Here is another site that has some info on the event: http://michiganmessenger.com/36897/dow-sponsored-water-event-invaded-by-zombies-and-angry-children

9. I saw an ad for it and wondered
Dow? As in Dow Chemical Dow? It's like KFC, but more sisnister than taking "fried" out of the name by using F. There's an easier way to fix your image than changing your name or holding phony charity races: Stop killing people.

Kudos to those who took part in taking it apart.
