Civil Rights leader Dorothy Height has just passed away.
Just heard this on the local Washington, D.C. news.

May our nation mourn the passing of a great Civil Rights leader and American.

4. I'm honoring her by e-mailing the FDR Library to correct the caption
Edited on Tue Apr-20-10 07:05 AM by Captain Hilts
to the photograph on the online photo page that has her identified as Mary McLeod Bethune.

Doesn't even remotely look like Bethune because it's Height:

5. Good catch, Captain Hilts
Thanks for e-mailing the FDR Library.

Here are some links for those who may be unfamiliar with the life's work of Dorothy Height:

6. This caption has been driving me nuts for years. The photo captions must have been
done by college interns at Marist University. So many are incorrect or are inadequate.

I'll say the same about the Betmann archive online. Just going through the Eleanor Roosevelt photographs you see things like the dates of the photos being incorrect by decades or "Eleanor Roosevelt with two English women." No, that's not an "English woman," that's Clementine Churchill. "Eleanor Roosevelt in Los Angeles with unidentified man." No, that's not an unidentified man, it's Samuel Goldwyn. So many of the online photo sites have bad captions.

Dorothy Height was amazing.
