Geoengineering freaks me out
Doing things like putting a set of mirrors in space to reflect some of the sun's rays in order to prevent global warming strikes me as a potentially dangerous proposition. Call me a Luddite, but this might end up badly. I suppose more research will let us know.

2. If it makes you feel better, it's just science fiction and conjecture.

3. The trick is to find geoengineering solutions that are reversible.
Edited on Tue Apr-20-10 07:11 PM by Xithras
Mirrors in space, for example, is easily reversible. If the weather reacts in an unpredictable manner, you just fire the positioning thrusters to move them out of the way.

The solution to the ills of technology is more, and better, technology.

4. Don't worry. Tin foil helmets make excellent protection from the orbital mind control lasers.
C'mon, 10,000 libertarians couldn't be wrong :tinfoilhat:

5. I have your back.

I just read about a "study" that proves that some metallic installation thing-ee, which is only going to cost the UK some 13 billion to produce in bulk, will be a better generator of oxygen than trees.

Sometimes when I read the reports of the geo-engineering marvels that are to come about soon, I can only envision a treeless world, with metal everywhere, and mirrors where the moon used to be.

it's enough to make a person cry.

6. Even if we run out of other options?
We are getting pretty damn close to the point of no return, and thinks are not looking too good when it comes to stopping CO2 emissions soon enough.
