Women: A way to change men's minds on abortion |
|
Deny sexual relations with any and every man who does not firmly believe in a woman's right to choose.
So, who's with me? :bounce:

18. I have the perfect answer for the abortion issue. |
|
Edited on Thu May-03-07 11:08 PM by merh
State mandated vasectomies.
Pass a law that as soon as a male is fertile, he must have a vasectomy.
Once the man has entered into a relationship with a woman that is willing to carry his child, he can go in and have the vasectomy reversed. Before the operation is allowed, a contract must be signed by both parties agreeing to the care of that child until it reaches maturity. Back door reversals are illegal and the man who has one and his physician are punished with a huge fine and mandatory community service. The community service must be child/family related.
Women that don't want to involve a man can be artificially inseminated, signing a similar contract regarding the care of the child.
If you do that, then you have removed the health risks for a woman and the need for abortions. You have also given the man the reproductive powers they crave and you have made them take responsibility for their little swimmers.
Let's see how the men like being told what they can do with their bodies by the state.

This is a very clever answer, and I have tried explaining things this way too, but you have to be careful with it, because sometimes you get a really whiny/aggressive bastard who either actually believes that the "uppity 'bitches' " are "oppressing" them again, like it was a real proposal the way theirs are, or they just hate women so much that they are going to fight and argue against everything you said, even if they actually know that it was a debating point, a reversal so they would understand what it felt like. I have used the "we will give everyone a vasectomy," part, (the "answer" to "we will restrict all of THEIR abortions"), and then added "and I am even willing to compromise on the issue," like give forced vasectomies to only some of them, etc.--letting them know how outrageous their equivalent treatment of us is. Also, I have used the approach that any male who is against abortion--like they don't know where the pregnancy came from--should have their abdomen gouged out, the fetus implanted, and they can put their money where their mouth is so to speak, and carry the pregnancy to term themselves. As mentioned though, you have to be careful with attempts like these; sometimes these anti-woman bigots just explode...

27. Oh, believe me, I know about debating the men on this. |
|
They consider it appauling to even suggest that their bodies be maimed and there is the "not all reversals work" cry.
It has been said millions of times over the course of human existence, if men were the gender responsible for (1) carrying a child to term, and (2) giving birth - we as a species would have died out a long time ago. OR, we would have affective birth control and there would be no question about the legality of abortions.

28. What makes you think men are the problem? |
|
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/abortion_poll030122.htmlMen and women support legal abortion in roughly equal numbers: 54 percent of men, and 58 percent of women, say it should be legal in all or most cases. In fact, men poll HIGHER in support of legal abortion in some circumstances than women do.

Who comprises the biggest demographic voting block? Women.
If all women were actually pro choice it wouldn't make a difference if any men were.

36. Well, facts are often "inconvenient truths" ... get in the way of biases. |

Indeed, the implication that sexual relations are a "one-way" deal leaves a sour taste in my mouth. In fact, I have never had much of an inclination to engage in such relations with any woman who thought so.

At least that has been my experience from the people I know.
I really don't understand the stereotype that women are pro-choice and men anti-. In real life I have not seen that to be the case.
It's always a bunch of women protesting outside the Planned Parenthood in my neighborhood...
