Where's the Roethlisberger outrage ?
I'm kinda befuddled at the non response here at DU, especially in light of the the 24/7 bashing of Tiger Woods and all that consensual, legal age sex.
And let's not forget the outrage and handwringing over those poor doggies Michael Vick tortured and killed. It was hard to find a political thread around here back then.
Barry Bonds denial of steroid use after breaking the HR record nearly caused a shitstorm of outrage on this 'progressive' site.
Kobe Bryant ? check...same scenario.

I'm trying to figure out what it is about these guys that doesn't include young Mr Roethlisberger.

1. "Woods" and "Vick" are easier to type than "Roethlisberger"

2. among other things, roethlisberger
hasn't been convicted or in any way adjudicated as having done anything wrong
also, people here were all OVER the duke case, which was the biggest load of crap right from the beginning

god only knows what the outrage criteria are

6. Big Ben is a bit schizo and a pig
on one hand he donates money to kid's charities, so you think "oh nice guy"

but the reputation he has cultivated around the town is of a mean schmuck who thinks he shits gold, I am disgusted by him and wish the Steelers would trade him. I have been a life long Steeler fan and his behavior disgusts me.

17. My Brother-in-law (huge Steelers fans) says the same thing and he never talks smack about anyone
Roethlisberger is cut from the same cloth as another faux good guy Jim Kelly. They should get married.

7. don't give a crap about Tiger Woods
what he did is between him and his wife, and the rest of us don't need to know.

Don't know or care much about Bonds and Bryant.

Vick is a disgusting POS who doesn't deserve to be walking free, let alone collecting an NFL paycheck, IMO.

Roethlisberger is a freaking idiot. A narcissistic idiot, apparently, who hasn't grown up enough at the age of 28 to know how to handle himself in public. At best, he's a chauvinistic pig, at worst, he's a rapist who's gotten away with it.

Hard to be too angry about him unless it's proven he did something illegal. He's fortunately paying a price now, thanks to the NFL - maybe it'll wake his stupid ass up. Not holding my breath, but a 6-game suspension is significant.

10. He is???
I always wonder about people who notice what color someone is, and then use that as justification for why people do or don't get outraged over what that person has done.

Couldn't possibly be that people are having outrage overload. Or that there are other issues hitting people closer to home. Or maybe it's because he was never actually charged, tried, and prosecuted for a crime.

Nope.

There's no DU outrage because....

he's white.

yech.

9. DU generally follows whatever the media hook is for the day.
and threads that don't play to that generally sink like a boulder.

You are not seeing a lot of Big Ben threads for the same reason you hardly ever see an Iraq War thread anymore.

He's a dog,. and we all know it, but his "problems" started decades ago when the jock-is cool mentality embedded itself in his psyche.

Famou$/RICH hunky guys attract women who hope to latch onto them. Things often go "awry" when there's booze/drugs/etc involved.

The sad thing is that the groupies/team-followers rarely (if ever) "get the guy", but they still try..

These are guys who grow up with a sense on entitlement.. there is always a "fixer" in their lives.. parents, coaches, agents, bodyguard, etc.

Every now and then, one of them goes so off the track, that law enforcement gets into the mix, and some even do time, but mostly, they just leave a trail of brokenhearted young women who may have thought they just might be "the one"...but they were the ONLY ones who were thinking that.. The "men" involved in those "meetings" only wanted cheap/easy/free sex
