WTF Oklahoma?
Oklahoma… you have left me speechless

April 21, 2010 7:20 PM, by PZ Myers

They're considering a new law to keep women ignorant and ashamed.

The governor of Oklahoma is considering tough new abortion bills that would allow doctors to withhold test results showing foetal defects and require women to answer intrusive questions.

The results of the questionnaires would be posted online.

Women would also be required to have a vaginal ultrasound and listen to a detailed description of the embryo or foetus in a third bill passed by the legislature on Monday.

So let me get this straight. If a woman in Oklahoma thinks she is pregnant, she can go in for "testing"…but she won't get to know all the results. And she has to fill out a form so her sexual history can be posted on the web. And she's going to get a pointless ultrasound and a lecture scripted by the likes of Prolife across America.

Why would anyone do that?

11. I am beginning to think it might be justice to have every man in
America who might have prostrate trouble to have their penis and balls photographed, critiqued and posted online. Then maybe we can add rectal exams and other stuff so that they can decide whether they have the right to make decisions on their bodies without nazis getting into their business. I am sure Inhofe and Coburn would agree. Also, i think anyone having a vasectomy shouldn't have the privacy of their actions. Put their balls and penis on the internet too. Include pictures and addresses/phone numbers and as many fucked up questions as a panel of women can think up. I personally volunteer to help.

4. So basically if a woman tests to find out that her child has a disease that will

kill it as soon as it is born, if not in utero, she can't find out the results? What is the point of the testing then?

Those tests were an option for me, but I opted out of having them done. Didn't want to know. It wouldn't have changed my decision to carry full term, but a woman should have these options. It isn't right to deny them. It is utter bullshit. It is MY choice. MINE if I am the pregnant person.

10. What the hell.
This bill was introduced before: http://jezebel.com/5376502/new-oklahoma-law-will-put-details-of-all-abortions-online

It was struck down by the courts: http://reproductiverights.org/en/press-room/court-strikes-down-intrusive-ok-abortion-law-declares-unconstitutional

So,what's new with this bill that would keep it from getting struck down?

12. I get the idea that the OK legislature would like to actually rape women, so they pass laws instead
to satisfy their cravings.
