2. And the women who have unprotected sex with them? |
|
Rather sexist to assume that only men should or can have financial responsibility eh?

23. In some of our more backward states, like Arkansas, only men do have the financial responsibility |
|
for a child. A mother's income, or lack thereof, is not taken into consideration in setting child support.

3. Because most women don't know that unprotected sex causes pregnancies? |
|
Ever heard the expression it takes two to tango. Why is the woman absolved of any responsibility?
No glove no love was how they used to say it. Maybe the ladies should rehearse that line before heading out for the night. Or buy their own condoms. Hell of a lot cheaper than a kid.

4. The risk is on the women. |
|
They are the ones that will be stuck caring for the kid on their own. They are the ones who will lose wages and career opportunities because of the time it requires. They will be stuck paying legal fees while trying to get child support.
It takes two to tango, but this has nothing to do with who's fault it is and everything to do with making sure that kid is supported.
Before my sister was divorced, her husband said he needed some time and moved out leaving my sister alone to care for their daughter. Too bad my sister did not have the option to say she needs her space and abandon the family. Maybe the woman should post a bond in case she dies in childbirth or gets run over by a bus or something.

7. Why did she not have the option? |
|
Women abandon families too. Just because he took the option and she didn't does not mean she never had it. It means she had different, and more socially acceptable, priorities.
And women are not the only ones who become single parents. That they do so more often than men is largely due to the massive, and massively sexist, bias of judges in custody cases - in favor of the female.

You can't blame her greater responsibility on gender bias. She had every bit as much ability to do the same thing he did.

13. Actually, neither of them had that option. |
|
Father did it because he could. The reality of the situation with my sister acting as primary care-giver meant that he had more liberty in the matter than she did.

they decide marriage is too hard so they decide a break up. he walks.... i mean wtf. babies that young, you NEED two parents. it is a horribly hard time as it is. then calls me to babysit (raise) babies while she works. i dont think so.
as far as i am concerned, they can suck it up for a couple years if need be and get thru this time. still plenty of life to live.
sometimes we have to go beyond what we as adults "want" for the need of the child. go figure

|
I mean your post is spelled correctly and uses sound grammar so I assume your English skills are sufficient to understand what it means to have an option to do something, so where is the disconnect?

22. Ah, you didn't ask how it was possible, only if it was true. |
|
Do you have an option to run a red light? No. Can you do it? Yes. "Option" implies that it is somehow allowed. Abandoning one's family is not. Yet it is still physically possible.

24. That's the definition of "option". You're searching for "power" vs. "right" |
|
A driver with gas in the tank and a key in the ingition has the power to run a red light ("the option"). What he doesn't have is the the right.

They choose to continue with the pregnancy and to keep the child.
There are options.
And I'm not talking about broken marriages with kids...I'm talking about flings and the like...
