Cheney: Telling Leahy to ‘f*ck’ himself was ‘sort of the best thing I ever did.’
Cheney: Telling Leahy to ‘f*ck’ himself was ‘sort of the best thing I ever did.’

In 2004, then-Vice President Dick Cheney had a “frank exchange of views” with Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) on the Senate floor over Cheney’s ties to Halliburton and President Bush’s judicial nominees. Cheney ended the argument by telling Leahy, “F*ck yourself.” Since then, Cheney has joked about the incident and claimed the Leahy “merited” it because he was “close” to kissing him. On Dennis Miller’s radio show today, Cheney suggested that his Leahy f-bomb was “the best thing” he had ever done:

MILLER: By the way, my, I also want to thank you, on the list of things I feel I should thank you for, almost kicking Patrick Leahy’s ass. Thank you very much.

CHENEY: Hehehehe.

MILLER: I love that move. One of my favorite stories. Muttering that.

CHENEY: You’d be surprised how many people liked that. That’s sort of the best thing I ever did.

He can't help himself... evil comes naturally.

7. Actually it is the best thing he ever did, everything else was much worse.
The warmongering and getting thousands of innocent people killed was much worse imo.

Cheney will go down as being the worst VP in American history.

yup, that juvenile, cowardly, hypocritical and arrogant remark is just about the best thing he's done.

Pretty sad comment on him, but if he wants to go there----

12. I couldn't stop thinking about his juvenile bullshit a few weeks back
when everyone had their undies in a twist over Biden calling health care reform "a big fucking deal". Where was the f-bomb outrage when it was spoken in anger as an insult, instead of just a colorful synonym for "impressive"? Republican hypocrisy is so transparent.

22. And if Leahy had told Cheney the same thing...
Democrats would love it and Republicans would be up in arms. BFD one way or the other. I don't like either of the old bastards, and they both can go f*** themselves as far as I'm concerned. When they get their noses out of the collective ass of the millionaire's club and actually give a damn about ordinary Americans, I might start to care about their childish babbling.

And as one of his constituents, I can tell you that he absolutely does care about ordinary Americans and has worked in their interests throughout his career.

I'd say my opinion is rather more informed on the subject. And it's not opinion that Leahy isn't a millionaire and didn't take advantage of his position to become one, that's fact.

I did the Google:

Senator Leahy is not one of the wealthiest Congress-critters.

I know that you won't let this admission go to your head? :hi:

When they get their noses out of the collective ass of the millionaire's club...

One does not have to be a millionaire to fall into that category. Most of our government falls into that category.

I didn't realize Leahy was so saintly as to be immune to criticism, but I do remember that a lot of the people I met in Vermont were affected with hero worship for the old fellow.

that's the best response!

41. Actually, I can easily see Biden saying that.
It's not like Biden hasn't dropped an F-bomb or two in his life. I wouldn't be any more torqued about that than I was about Cheney blasting Biden. In fact, one of the things I respect about Biden is that he will occasionally break out of politician mode and say what's on his mind.

43. "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" -- that's all it means . . .
However, it's been imbued with violent overtones --

often as an insult based on being female/effeminate --

note what Cheney is saying about Leahy "almost kissing him" ---

I wouldn't appreciate Biden using the floor of the Senate to be as coarse

as Cheney.

Agree with you -- some may.

Know-nothing's --

And, am I mistaken, or is this yet more evidence of these boys trying to put

down Leahy by suggesting he's effeminate -- gay -- weak -- ???

The weakest people among us are those who have to rely on "put down's" to make

themselves feel better -- and those who turn to violence and deception to get

what they want.

And that's what the right wing -- and Cheney are all about -- violence.
