Is Arlen Specter a Democrat or a Republican??
I know he switched Parties because he thought he could not win the Republican primary. Does that make him a Democrat? Or does his record define himself as a Democrat? Or is he still a Republican with a "D" by his name? Would you vote for him?

1. Yes
He's whatever it takes to win reelection.

In other words, he's a typical politician.

2. He's a party of one, like Holy Joe.
We have the Specteran party and the Lieberman party, and the future probably holds more or the same, freelancers out for their own self-interest.

5. Specter called out several Repubs to their faces when they lied about HCR.
You did not see Liebermann doing that.

9. That's true, they aren't identical.
Specter is for Specter, and Lieberman is for Lieberman, not the same thing at all.

3. He's a Spectercrat...
he does whatever is right for him to stay in office.

And no, I wouldn't vote for him because of his history.

6. Unreccing. He declared himself a Democrat and the DNC agrees.
That's good enough for me.

18. In honor of your unrec I rec'd it
The guy is an opportunist.
His move to the left only came about when Sestak came along
He was one of the reasons that I listed on my "Why I won't give you money" when the DNC tried to get donations from me.
Same with the DSCC

I donated to Sestak. I donated to Halter.

20. Specter switched
End of April

Sestak entered about a month later

Since that time Specter has back-tracked on positions he took in support of the Bush administration and most tellingly, he now endorses Card-Check, something he said he opposes when he made the switch on April 28, 2009
