Early life

Brewer was born in Hollywood, California to Perry and Edna Drinkwine. Her father died of lung disease when she was eleven years old. She married John Brewer and worked in Glendale, California before moving to his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona in 1970. They later moved to Glendale, Arizona where he became a successful chiropractor and found success in real estate as well. She gave birth to three sons, one of whom died from cancer in 2007. ....

According to the Arizona Republic and the Arizona Daily Star, it costs the state $3 million to cover domestic partners and $625 million for other employees and their dependents.

Discontinuation of S-CHIP and clawback of AHCCCS

S-CHIP in Arizona is known as "KidsCare." By enacting the 2011 budget, Brewer and the legislature have eliminated the Arizona variant of the State Children's Health Insurance Program program that provides health insurance to uninsured children<14> whose families do not make little enough to qualify for Medicaid.<15>. According to the FY 2011 budget, enrollment caps will also be put into place for AHCCCS, thereby limiting access to the insurance program for the needy. An estimated 310,000 Arizonans will be kicked off the program per the budget Jan Brewer has signed into law.<16>

Reaction to Federal Health Care Bill Mandates

Brewer has responded to the recent passing of health care bill in the US Congress by calling upon a special state legislative session to join in the class-action lawsuit by thirteen state Attorneys Generals to challenge the constitutionality of the federal mandate to purchase health insurance. ....

6. additional story about Jan you won't find

When I first got here I was told by one of the KPHX listeners about Jan having a son who had some kind of sexual assault on some girl. Jan quickly had him committed to a mental institution where he stayed until he was no longer in danger of being arrested. I thought it just one of those stories even though the guy said he called it in on a talk radio show and got hushed up. I remembered it one day while I was talking to the Governor's office and asked about it, expecting a denial. What I got instead was a statement, "we don't talk about that around here". I was telling someone else about it and when they called the Governor's office they got the same reply. Make of it what you will, but it is a strange reply at best in my mind.

Also Jan Brewer is a big admirer of Haley Barbour, my former Governor, and she helped to bring him here to speak since I have been here. I called and complained since I had to leave Mississippi because Haley and his friends tried to kill in Mississippi when I stopped his eviction of 2 section 8 housing units on the coast. I found out from HUD that Barbour had ordered the evictions and was getting kickbacks from corporations who wanted the properties. I agreed to file the complaint and they gave Barbour a choice to either revoke the evictions or be indicted. He revoked them and suddenly I started getting death threats and eventually left Mississippi with the help of Mike Malloy Show and Jeff Farias Show listeners.
