Republican Governors Pay Homage To Guy Fawkes

Now, the Fawkes mythology has come full circle. The Republican Governors Association has embraced the symbolism of Fawkes, launching a rather striking website, RememberNovember.com, with a video that showcases far more Hollywood savvy than one can usually expect from Republicans. Again, the Fawkes tale has been twisted a bit. This time, President Obama plays the roll of King James, the Democratic leadership is Parliament, and the Republican Party represents the aggrieved Catholic mass.

1. The actors and jesters are here
The stage is in darkness and clear
For raising the curtain
And no one's quite certain whose play it is

How long ago, how long, if only we had listened then
If we'd known just how right we were going to be
For we dreamed a lot and we schemed a lot
And we tried to sing of love before the stage fell apart

If everyone was listening you know
There'd be a chance that we could save the show
Who'll be the last clown to bring the house down?
Oh no, please no, don't let the curtain fall

Well, what is your costume today?
And who are the props in your play?
You're acting a part which you thought from the start
Was an honest one

Well, how do you plead? An actor indeed
Go re-learn your lines
You don't know what you've done
The finale's begun

If everyone was listening you know
There'd be a chance that we could save the show
Who'll be the last clown to bring the house down?
Oh no, please no, don't let the curtain fall

5. This actually raises a question I had thought about at one point...
Do any History buffs know the answer?

The very famous story of Guy Fawkes is that on Nov. 5th he was caught trying to blow up Parliament as an act of violent protest against the King of England because Mr. Fawkes had no actualized form of Representation in that Governing Body (as a Catholic)

The authors of the American Revolution against the English Crown also believed that they were not being given adequate Representation to the body politic in London, or at the Court of King James. And from what I understand, they had quite a fondness for Irony (as most smart people are prone to do)

If both of the above statements are correct, then does it follow that Election Day in America is on Nov.4th as a sort of Ironic nod to Mr. Fawkes' plan to blow up Parliament? In other words, was Nov. the Fourth chosen as the day of our new nations free elections as a message to the Crown? A kind of "Fuck You, at least were not trying blow up Parliament, and If you would have listened to Mr. Fawkes (and us) in the first place, treason (on both our parts) might not have been necessary.? If so, it would never have gone unnoticed in London, and would also have served as a warning to those seeking Electoral power within the new government of the United States--You'd better get used to the idea of losing on Nov. the Fourth, because if you don't, the Fifth can be worse.

If anyone can tell me if this train of thought is remotely historically accurate, I'd love to know for sure, otherwise it means that I'm jumping to unfounded conclusions again =)
Thanks
