9. DCLXVI in Roman numerals

Most of the stuff on Wiki are pure BS and are based on Greek or later transcriptions of the originals, usually Koine Greek or some early version of Aramaic. The DCLXVI was likely inserted in the otherwise non-Latin documents.

The Roman numerals in order for 500+100+50+10+5+1 was used in this context probably as code for "Roman Empire" and also DCLXVI was an informal way of saying "some arbitrarily large number" (e.g. "gazillion"). That gets you the 666 meaning.

Because of how manuscripts were written for Latin, you had to count "strokes" in many cases to determine letters. The 616 version was probably a copying error with some scribe dropping the L from the middle of the sequence.

(My ex-spouse was an expert in manuscripts and early language development. Some of it rubbed off.)

But what is interesting is just what the beast is....because in both Daniel's account and Revelations the beast that devours the world has the characteristics of a machine not a man.
and so what is likely the beast that devours the world is our own capitalist system....which now fits the description of devouring the whole world.....and so with that in mind Reagan may well be that biblical symbol, in that he started the great capitalist take over that we now see.
