NY Times - "McCain’s Tough Stance on Arizona Immigration Bill" - What About His Adopted Daughter?
I was once impressed with John McCain's willingness to support immigration reform. However, in the midst of a tough re-election campaign, John McCain has once again flipped flopped, and abandoned his prior support of immigration reform, and supports a law that could very well hit close to home:

Updated: PHOENIX — When Senator John McCain broke his silence Monday on his home state’s tough, new immigration enforcement bill, some immigrant advocates wished he had kept quiet and worried that he was backpedaling on what had been one of his signature bipartisan issues.

Perhaps more than anything these days, though, Senator McCain’s decision to endorse the measure as a “good tool” signals the rightward tilt of his party and his re-election battle with a conservative primary challenger.

In an interview with Bill O’Reilly on Fox News on Monday, Mr. McCain said: “The state of Arizona is acting and doing what it feels it needs to do in light of the fact that the federal government is not fulfilling its fundamental responsibility — to secure our borders.”

He added that it would be regrettable if the legislation, which still needs Gov. Jane Brewer’s signature, led to racial profiling. But he said it was aimed at protecting “people whose homes and property are being violated, drivers of cars with illegals in them that are intentionally causing accidents on the freeways.”

3. Nobody with an ounce of common sense believes his current stance.
Polls show that 70% of Arizona agree with this insane new law, which means that McCain's previous stance won't fly with voters. Once (if) he wins, he'll flip flop back. He obviously doesn't think his constituents are very bright.
