This is my 1,000 post, Thank you DU for existing, Many topics & almost as
many schisms to follow through the years. Lots of emotions prodded, and hopefully more educated about things, people, events, beliefs, lifestyles and etc. I have led an interesting, if flawed, life. I have never missed a vote but I sure have picked the loser a lot. I have been registered as an independent since the dishonor of Watergate. I was even a fucking YR for a few years but Nixxon helped change my beliefs. I have only voted for one Republican in the last 30 years, because I personally knew his crooked Democratic opponent, Gov Wallace Wilkerson, who died in disgrace. I have supported the Democrats with my voice, vote, and checkbook. I could never before let myself actually register as a Democrat in KY because the same initial reason I left the Repubs all those years ago. Honor or the lack of it has seemed to have slowly evaporated from the American ken. There has been a dearth of honor in Kentucky from Both political parties but the root beliefs/ platforms of the 2 leave no other choice but to vote Democratic. So now , in honor of my wife I will go to the Fayette CO Courthouse today and change my registration to Democratic. I will now again be enfranchised to vote in our closed primaries and will do my best to bring back the Democratic Party to the power it has had historically in KY. I am hoping that honor can again become an American trait so that real discourse can take place in the country. Thank you Skinner, EarlG, and Elad for this community. To finish a quote: Mark Twain: "When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Kentucky because it's always twenty years behind the times." THANKS DU Peace, Richard
