“Why would I want to be the governor?” Arpaio said. “I can lock up the governor if I want to.”

Says all you need to know about this thug.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio gave the main speech, focusing largely on his signature issue of illegal immigration. But the former Drug Enforcement Administration agent also blasted the federal government as wasteful and said he wasn’t worried about federal investigators looking into his law enforcement tactics, which have led to accusations of racial profiling.

1. Why is this man still Sheriff
Because of the voters of Maricopa County. And as long as the voters back him up, he will remain in his position. I doubt that the feds will find anything or anyone that will hurt him.

So, accept the fact that he will remain the sheriff, because the voters of Maricopa County want him to be.

He can't be blamed for what he is, and it seems that no one here wants to point the finger at the voters.

2. Arpaio is former DEA?
My question, then, is which cartel is moving its product through Arizona without hindrance?

(Is that cynical of me?)

3. Arpaio has always been a power tripping defective human
He definitely would not pass a modern psych profile to get a job. Maybe they administer one for him to keep his job.

I wrote a personal letter and cross posted as an LTTE and government forum some years ago, criticizing his vigilante choices as un American.

He did some nasty stuff right back that incidentally backfired, and I won't get into, but suffice it to say he is a nasty piece of work.

Conservative societies seem to be a breeding ground for this kind of entitled piss poor protoplasm, and they can have him and keep him. I don't wish for to die, I just wish for him to have a large enough grave when he does to accommodate all the people who will want to riverdance on it.
