Security Contractor home from Iraq |
|
Over the last weekend I was involved in a conversation with a guy who spent three months in Iraq as a security contractor. One of the other people said he'd heard they made "fabulous money" like $100 grand per year. The guy said he was making money at the rate of $200,000 per year but decided the risk was not worth it.
His background was retired military and police.
He talked about how the Iraqi's who are supposedly helping US Forces were in cahoots with the insurgents and nobody would turn their backs on the Iraq security people.
He told the story that an insurgent at the fence was successfully negotiating entry to their secured compound with Iraqi guards manning the watch towers. The Americans shot the guy at the fence and arrested the other Iraqis.
(I had a number of reactions to his views but leave them out of this posting.)
