Hispanic voters in Arizona - 17% eligible voters
According to Ted Robbins, correspondent for National Public Radio, 17% of the eligible voters in Arizona are Hispanic BUT the Hispanic population tends to vote 10 to 15 % below the normal population.

I’ll bet AZ Republicans already know this so we Democrats have got our work cut out for us – so let’s get going!!!

And don’t forget the Native American vote. I’m already working on that in my blog.

1. Well...
I'd like to see polling of AZ resident Hispanics and their approval/disapproval of the law.

2. They can show their disapproval by getting registered and going to the polls.

4. The Arizona Hispanic Republicans have issued a statement
about their opinion of the law:

Statement from Arizona Hispanic Republicans

Statement from Arizona Hispanic Republicans

Arizona Hispanic Republicans will not vote for Jan Brewer this year because we are holding her accountable for supporting a bill that violates the Constitution and our Civil Rights. I have sounded the alarm to all Republicans in this state that the passing of this bill is political suicide.

The State of Arizona already has a blemish because we were the last state of the Union to recognize Martin Luther King as an official holiday. Arizona Hispanic Republicans will write an open letter to our RNC Chair, Michael Steele, as he continues to consider where to hold our next 2011 GOP convention. We will caution our RNC Chair to consider the consequences of that because then it could be perceived as rewarding the state that implemented strong anti-Hispanic laws that has rattled our community and our Civil Rights.

I have no idea why any minority would want to be associated with the Republican Party. This should not have been a shock to these people. But they claim it is because of their Conservative values.

Looks like they just got a wake-up call. And although I haven't found any polls from Arizona that were specifically for Hispanics, I have seen at least one that says that 70% of Arizonans support the law. This may change though, as people begin to really understand what is in the law.

8. Makes sense I suppose. But now they have been relegated
to the status of their fellow Hispanics who are not so well off. I bet they feel betrayed. I doubt, being that they are Republicans, that their concern is about anyone but themselves. But it's nice to see that they got the message. No matter how willing the racist Republican Party might be to take their money and votes, they will never accept them as equals. And I'm sure they thought that because they were 'legal' they were above their fellow Hispanics who are not. Now, maybe they will learn that to a racist, all minorities, regardless of status, are unacceptable. But maybe not.

9. BTW... the Arizona Hispanic Republicans has 81 members.
hardly a "real" civic group. It's a press release for "press release value"

5. I'm sure they are 99% opposed.
This isn't just a crackdown on illegal immigrants. Every Hispanic person in AZ, citizen or not, will need to carry around their papers with them to avoid arrest. How would you like to have to be forced to carry proof of citizenship at all times or risk arrest?

10. Thomm Hartmann had Greg Palast on his show today
and this is exactly what Palast is alleging. - That this law really isn't about immigration; it's about voter suppression.

11. Time for some voter registration drives.
And just in case, be sure to bring a can or two of mace, a billy club, or better. Deterrence works.
