For all who don't understand the election makeup of Az, and why we can win.

35% of the voters of AZ are GOP ,33 % are Dem the rest
are either Indie,Libertarian or Green. The Hispanic population is around 38% of the population. 17% to 20% are eligible to vote. Do the math and tell me why we can't win in Nov? Here are some figures for you. These are last years. Both parties have declined in registration since then and the Indies now have larger numbers but it is a good indication of the direction of our division.

In addition to this we have early vote by mail in AZ. The GOP has been squeaking out victories by the early voting margins. We are now only 60,000 voters behind them in EV numbers, and with an all out push are slated to pass the GOP before November. We have again out raised the GOP financially and we CAN overtake them. All we need is an enormous GOTV and a voter education program that targets down line voting.

Arizona voter registration grows to nearly 3.1 million
by Mary Jo Pitzl / Apr. 21, 2009

… From last November’s election through April 1, voter registration rose by more than 100,000 people, or 3.4 percent, according to figures from the Arizona Secretary of State….

Republicans continue to dominate the voter rolls, with 1,137,262 voters, but the party posted the smallest percentage gain, up 1.7 percent.

Democrats were next, with 1,046,140 voters, up 2.3 percent.

The largest percentage gain was among Libertarians, who posted an 11.6 percent gain in registration, for a total of 20,256 voters.

The Green Party, which gained ballot status last year, boosted its numbers 5 percent, to 4,210 voters.

Voters who are unaffiliated with any party continue to be the third-largest voting group in Arizona, with 880,128 voters, a 6.8 percent gain from November…

4. Well, at least some of us are trying to do something constructive! And we do have some AWESOME
candidates and a particularly awesome Attorney General who happens to be running for Governor and I am very proud of him. He is a civil rights champion and was listed among the best Attorney Generals in the nation. Terry Goddard deserves the support not only of Arizona but the nation.

9. sorta reminds me of an old time radio show title
Let George Do It.

I guess it is like when I coached and took over a failing program, many didn't want to do anything to revive it UNTIL it got done then they came running to me to be part of it. Of course by then I didn't need their support and they felt left out because suddenly they REALLY cared.

12. Good point. Just like the only people who REALLY cared about South Africa...
were those who didn't boycott.

10. I wonder about folks who trash decent Democrats that they know absolutely nothing about
but hate the state they are from. Why wouldn't any true Democrat want to turn a purple state blue? I do not understand having to have something to hate and directing hate at the very people who are trying to solve the problem. But some folks think the only politics that matter are in DC. They are mistaken.

11. None of us can turn your state blue.
That's your job as Arizonans. And the fact that plenty of Dems and Indies support the law in question makes the point moot anyway.

13. You seem to have an awful lot of hate for another state. This seems far beyond the reaction
some had when YOUR state passed prop 8. Did anyone really boycott California? Not really . Just thought I'd point that out. And California has the reputation of being so liberal. Congrats on Gov.Arnie. I certainly hope you elect Brown this time and educate your own voter better on civil rights. I would certainly contribute to help California take back the governorship.

14. I'm not sure where you're getting "hate."
 People went nuts when my state passed that filthy Proposition, and rightly so. It's my responsibility as a California Democrat to fix it; I was pissed people from other states got involved and helped pass the damned thing in the first place! california politics are a California issue, just as AZ politics are for Arizonans to deal with.

I doubt anybody boycotted California, but they should have! They should use that tool to make a difference.

I don't hate your state. I normally spend a week in Tempe each year for a convention. you've got some great vegetarian restaurants there. I won't be there this year.

15.  First of all all the assertions that most Arizonans support this bill are untrue.
I don't know how Rass asked the questions but the truth is most Arizonans do support tightening border entry. I have no problem with that. Perhaps if people couldn't sneak in so many wouldn't die in the desert attempting to. But by and large, when informed of the actual constraints in the Bill, most Arizonans do not support the bill itself. I agree the problem should be fixed but Arizonans but massing folks in other states to,to hurt the very folks this bill discriminates against doesn't seem like letting the state solve its own business.
But heck, we have no major businesses anyway, we have the one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation, number 2 !i believe, as well as one of the highest unemployment rates, so I guess at this point, a boycott won't make much difference. They already killed tourism by shutting a lot of the state parks.

23. That was the argument against boycotting South Africa.
You want to take Arizona back? You need to support the Latino community and their votes because you need them to win.

Whining about the consequences of rampant racism in your state is not persuasive.

17. we in California boycotted the businesses who supported that shit
one example was El Coyote restaurant which was popular among gays but it was shown the owner supported prop 8. and the place was boycotted with some article of the owner crying and feeling sorry for themself.

there were also other places listed to boycott liek some el pollo locos owned by prop 8 supporters.

and i think most people in California are idiots.
