Rep. Pelosi - Bring ENDA to the U.S. House Floor for a Vote (change.org petition)
Rep. Pelosi - Bring ENDA to the U.S. House Floor for a Vote

The Employment Non-Discrimination ACT (ENDA) has been introduced in almost every session of Congress since 1994. Yet, 16 years later, ENDA still hasn't become law. And each day that passes without ENDA on the federal level, 30 states could legally fire someone just because they're gay. Even more, 38 states could fire someone because they're transgender. That's simply unacceptable.

Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi has said that passing ENDA will be a priority under her leadership in Congress. Yet, despite evidence that she has the votes to pass ENDA, Speaker Pelosi continues to keep ENDA from being put to the U.S. House floor.

Tell Rep. Pelosi that it's time for a U.S. House vote on ENDA. The majority of American voters support ENDA. And after sixteen years, it's high time for some Congressional action on passing ENDA.

Petition text -

Move the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (H.R. 3017) to a Vote

Dear Speaker Pelosi,

For more than 16 years, Congress has seen a version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) introduced. Yet, after almost two decades, there is still no federal-level ENDA on the books. Each day that passes without a federal ENDA, 30 states retain the ability to fire employees simply on the basis of sexual orientation, and 38 states can fire individuals because of their gender identity. This is unacceptable.

H.R. 3017, the U.S. House version of ENDA, is ready to be sent to the U.S. House floor for a vote. As you've said previously, passing ENDA must be a priority for the 111th Congress. The next step, in order to move ENDA forward, is for you to free the bill up and move it for a vote.

We know that majorities in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House support ENDA. We also know that a majority of American voters believe that it's morally wrong to fire someone from their job because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Couple these two things together, and there's simply no reason to hold up a vote on ENDA.

Please, let's move this process forward. I urge you to free up ENDA for a vote in the U.S. House.
