8. Don't you think those are rather timid headlines?
"slows" financial overhaul?

"delays" action on bank controls?

They are doing more than that. The Repubs are only "slowing" it down and "delaying" the vote? They plan on voting for it in a couple of days? They are blocking the mother.

6. GOP?
It's in every one of those headlines. I bet if you did a "man on the street" operation and asked people what the GOP is, a majority wouldn't have a clue. I'd even bet a sizable percentage would say they are Democrats.

7. "Republicans" is too long for a headline and unlike DU, they're not going to use 'Pukes.
GOP = Republican is a common and well-known moniker.

12. Yet Democrat(ic), when used, is spelled out.
GOP is common and well known by those who are politically active but I wouldn't say the same for the general population.
