Has Linda Ronstadt said anything about the Arizona law yet?
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 03:27 PM by Ken Burch
She's probably the most famous Arizona Latina in the country. And her politics are solidly progressive. I really hope Linda gets out front on this one. She represents all the good in that state in the way that Joe Arpaio and the Minutemen represent all the bad.

1. I haven't read anything...
I know some other celebrities like Eva Longoria have come out against it. I'm actually looking forward to what George Lopez has to say.

3. Good on Eva to speak out. But it's more important
to have celebrities with Arizona ties to speak out against it.

4. Thanks for the link!
I'm guessing she'll have several pithy comments to make about the situation.

5. But is she relevant anymore? Most younger people probably don't
know who she is.

I still get chills when I hear "Blue Bayou",my personal favorite.

6. I think she's been quoted as saying, "It's no good, it's no good,
it's no good! Baby, it's no good."

9. Google worked well for me....
http://www.sacbee.com/2010/04/27/2707828/arizonas-new-law-draws-chorus.html

"Arizona's new law draws chorus of protest in California

California Latino rights activists and attorneys are leading a charge against a new Arizona law they say violates federal law and will inevitably lead to racial profiling.

San Francisco officials called for a boycott and said they are considering ending contracts with Arizona businesses.

The state's Latino, Asian Pacific Islander and black legislative caucuses wrote to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer in protest.

And a contingent that includes United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta, and singer Linda Ronstadt – a Californian who grew up in a Mexican American family in Tucson, Ariz. – will travel to Phoenix on Thursday for an event denouncing the legislation."

have a sing-in with others old and new.

Their songs together are absolutely beautiful.

Bring "The Trio" in too: Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Rondstadt

14. That is a good idea, too.
And tie it in with some younger groups in the area, like Calexico.
