Once again...a few facts for Republicans...
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 05:38 PM by YOY
I post this one once a year and keep adding to it with other facts that DUers can add to it. I'll keep it simple and not form complex statements and stick to facts and not "truths". As always ADD YOUR OWN!

Reaganomics are not capitalism.

Reaganomics are not more American than any other economic system.

Reaganomics were one of the reasons why that sh*t storm happened on Wall Street.

Iraq was not involved in 9-11. If it was the Bush admin would be singing it from the rafters.

Iraq has nothing to do with "freedom."

Mixing Religion and Politics never works. It has never worked in the past and will never work in the present or future.

Our forefathers believed strongly in separation of church and state. Many of them were Deists.

Fundamentalists of any stripe are dangerous.

Socialism is not communism. Socialist programs do not lead to complete socialism. Even if it did socialism and democracy mix quite well. Incidentally, Obama isn't either by anyone's textbook save Glenn Beck.

Paying less taxes than you did under Reagan cannot be construed as socialism, communism, or Marxism.

Most of you are not rich and never will be.

Those of you who are "rich" are not wealthy and never will be.

Those of you who are wealthy, you are not higher lifeforms than the rest of us.

Non-believers (Atheists and Agnostics) are not inherently bad (or good) people.

Religious folks of all stripes are not inherently good (or bad) people.

Education is good for you. Listening to educated people is better than ignoring them. Being able to have an educated and civil discussion on how to resolve problems and following through with action is the best way to solve problems.

Nobody who matters cares what car you drive, what clothes you wear, and whether you have money or not.

Facts are not debatable.

Being born here doesn't make you a better person than someone who was not. What you do here or anywhere else can.

You are not magically "more American" or "in love with this country" more than the left.

In normal debate insulting the opposition and shouting at them doesn't make you the winner. It make you rude.

You cannot hate the government and expect it to protect you from any bogeymen you conceive of at the same time.

The military industrial complex is taking the same kind of money as they did during the cold war. We are no longer competing in an arms race.

Talking about caring about veterans and actually doing it are two different things.

Our military is neither good nor evil. It is an instrument. It can and has been used for both good and evil in the past.

Just because you call it a science doesn't mean that it is. There is a method behind science. If it doesn't fit the method it's not science. That goes for biology and archeology and all other sciences social and natural.

Gays, Lesbians, and Transgendered people are not inherently bad (or good) people. They are people. They have feelings. If you cannot respect who they are at least respect their humanity.

Nobody WANTS to get an abortion. Nobody thinks abortion is a beautiful thing. Abortion will happen whether you outlaw it or not.

If you want to have a world with less abortions work toward creating one where nobody would not want to bring a child into it but had the right to chose not to if they so desired.

It doesn't make sense to claim you're pro-life and then turn around and treat single mothers like crap.

If you think blacks, latinos, and other minorities have it easy, you've never really befriended any.

Native Americans have gotten and continue to get the shaft. If anyone has a right to feel pissed, it is they.

Abstinence only doesn't work. People fuck. Educated people are more careful than uneducated.

There is a strong difference between carrying a monkey portraying a black man and giving someone supporting a wasteful war the finger. One promotes injustice and the other shows defiance to injustice.

The fall of the USSR was in strong part due to a single party system that could not adapt. Sound familiar?

Torture is not an effective method of interrogation. Anyone who uses it is not "the good guy" and will not be universally loved.

There is not "Liberal Media". There is no "left-wing" media. Excluding public radio/tv,the American media is corporate-owned and it serves corporate interests. If the media were "liberal", they would not cover events like Michael Jackson's death and Tiger Woods' infidelity with such relish over real world events. When topics to be debated come up things turn to a yelling match and not any rational form of a discussion (Hardball). They want you distracted and uninformed.

There is no such thing as a "super-patriot".

Pundits are not journalists. Journalists report the facts and avoid the spin.

John Steward and Stephen Colbert are not journalists. They don't even claim to be. They're comedians. They make fun of stupid shit. If your side seems to have more stupid shit than ours then there clearly must be a reason for that.

Glenn Beck does not have any higher education degrees.

Sarah Palin is really not a well educated person. She has not put forth any actual attempts in policy creation or at the minimum has only rehashed simplifications of provenly failed ideas.

Owning a gun, while quite within your rights, does not mean you will be able to defeat a tyrannical government. Owning more than one (while once again quite within your rights) does not improve your chances dramatically.

The teabag movement is not grass roots. It is "astroturf" created by Dick Armey.

FOX News is owned by Rupert Murdoch and presided by Roger Ailes. There are daily memos sent out telling the tones and attack memos of the day. Virtually nothing happens on FOX News that is not scripted.

As one who has sat on a park bench quietly watching a "tea party" I can openly and factually state that the tea-baggers are "uninformed". In stating just that, I am being both factual and kind.

Add your own or tear down mine...
