You might think that Gulf coast newspapers |
|
would be all over the big oil spill. You would, of course, be wrong. Only the St.Pete Times had it on the fron page, and that was because Governor Christ was on a rant about drilling. The Houston Chronicle had it in the business section. Nola Times-Picayune buried it 2 layers deep in local news. Biloxi Sun had the proposed burn as its 3rd local story. Pensacola,,,, crickets. The Tampa Trib had no story on the spill, but they did notice that lots of people were specualating about the cause of the oily smell hanging in the air whenever the wind came out of the northwest. They thought it might be caused by creosote bushes burning in Mexico.

1. They know whereon the bread is buttered |

And it isn't their readers who enable their publisher to live in a big, swanky house. It's the major advertisers, of whom a large oil company is almost certainly one.

3. Some will probably think the free food, just washing up |
|
or laying around "pre-seasoned" will make a mighty fine meal:rofl:
and then some will scream & holler for the socialist handouts from the treasury
and those "bootstrap" Mom & Pop tourist places will want another socialist stimulus, when tourists turn up their noses at pre-oiled beaches
and they'll all still be paying $3+ for gasoline while the oil execs laugh all the way to the bank :(
