What the State Department's Sean McClellan says in response to this story about Condi and the lady in the red dress is the concrete definition of Self-fulfilling Prophecy:

If you were in the Iranian Minister's shoes, what would you feel compelled to demonstrate when you, and your country, are characterized, not only as afraid, but ALSO afraid of women?

This is the sort of thing that makes real communication between the countries impossible and dysfunctional communication leads to all kinds of other "acting out" up to and including Violence.

1. Well, Condi didn't want to appear to be 'chasing' him either.

On Thursday evening, Mottaki left dinner in Sharm el-Sheikh before Rice arrived to sit at the same table but Rice denied that the Iranian had snubbed her by not agreeing to meet.

"Well you can ask him why he didn't make an effort. Look, I'm not given to chasing anyone," she said.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Secretary of State that didn't treat foreign affairs the same way a high school girl treats boys?

2. Pathetic! You know when you hear things such as:

"Our brilliant ______________." or "________________ is a Great Lady."

The opposite is actually the problem, hence the PR campaigns to mitigate the situation. If these people were actually brilliant or great, they wouldn't NEED the press releases stating it. You'd be able to see it in RESULTS.

Apparently the Iranian Minister is just supposed to be deeply grateful to even be in her presence, like all of our Republican "men".

3. It just galls me when I read stuff like this.
If we go to war with Iran, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives are at stake, and trillions of dollars in higher gas prices and war costs.

But with the 'adults in charge', Condi is so concerned about appearances that she can't make the first move at the diplomatic dance cause she doesn't want to appear to be chasing him.

These people are beyond pathetic.
