Over the past couple of years I have periodically gotten calls for free or discounted travel, free TVs, and all sorts of stuff that is the bait for time-share companies. Tonight, a new twist - I got a call from "Heartcheck" saying that I was eligible for a free heart health exam. They asked a couple of very inclusive questions - are you between 35 and 70, are you under 300 pounds, etc. - and I answered because I wanted to know where this was going.

"And," she asked me, "Are you married or single?"

"Why are you asking?"

A pause. "Well, this offer is only good for married couples."

There it was - a new scam. Only now they have realized, in this time of increasing medical expenses, that the lure of a cheap trip or free TV is less alluring than the possibility of free health care...I can't express how furious I am at this scam! :grr: It's bad enough to trick people with a reward of goodies, but unpardonable to toy with them about their health. Luckily I didn't need this, but for those who do this is outrageous!
