3. Why does CNN believe that their snipets of her life
would be better than covering the service live. I detest M$Greedia more and more daily. Bill Cosby's wife has a lovely voice.

15. Sad to say, she's in very few history books. The FDR Library photo page
Edited on Thu Apr-29-10 10:40 AM by Captain Hilts
has a photograph of her with Mrs. Roosevelt labelled "Mary McLeod Bethune." Really. No kidding.

How many little girls you know named 'Rosa', 'Coretta', 'Dorothy', 'Mary McLeod' or 'Shirley'?

How many little boys named 'Martin' or 'Malcolm'? A whole lot more than little girls named for female heroes.

13. She's our Home Girl and
is the 'Official Soprano' of the Tony Kornheiser radio show. She's called in and sung.

She's kind of been excluded from events sponsored by President Obama and no one knows why. She really wanted to sing at the inauguration, for example.

I just happened to be watching TV One, one of my favorite cable stations.

Roland Martin was outstanding, simply outstanding, in doing the coverage.

Beautiful Service full coverage on TV One.

TV One is the best for bringing news about African American events.

18. I met Dorothy Height
I was attending a Luncheon at a hotel in downtown Los Angeles, several years ago.

Dorothy Height was the main speaker.

During Lunch, I left my seat to go to the Lady's Room.

As I was walking up the hallway, I realized that the elegant Hero was being wheeled to the Lady's Room.

I arrived at the door first and held the door for her.

She gave a gracious Thank You.

I replied, "Dr. Height, you have opened many doors for our People, I am honored to open this door for You."

What an American Hero she was ~

others to want to do more in the area of Civil rights.

She must have sprinkled pixie dust on both of us because we are "Tigers for Civil Rights."

Every souce that I saw indicated she "was in a wheel chair" but not the cause.

Bless her -- a national treasure as well.

Can't wait to see your post on Maya - wow!
Just found this but sill not specific...

31. on another note ....
I know that many leaders and congressmen feel the need to attend these high profile funerals but I wish that they wouldn't all sit together, because if some bizarre accident were to happen it could leave the USA in a huge mess.
Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Hillary all attended the funeral.
That means the person that did not attend that was the next person in the line of secession was 92 year old Robert Byrd!

List of the current presidential line of succession, as specified by the United States Constitution
1 Vice President Joe Biden
2 Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
3 President pro tempore of the Senate Robert Byrd
4 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
5 Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner
6 Secretary of Defense Robert Gates<2>
7 Attorney General Eric Holder
8 Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar
9 Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack
10 Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke
11 Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis
12 Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius
13 Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan
14 Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood
15 Secretary of Energy Steven Chu
16 Secretary of Education Arne Duncan
17 Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki
18 Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano
