1. One more big example of privatized profits and socialized risks
When the shit hits the fan, the people have to bail out the capitalists who exploit, abuse, neglect them.

5. President Obama says BP will pay the cost of clean-up.
Dare we hope that includes the cost of the help from the Navy and Coast Guard?

12. and when they don't and say they won't, they can't?
I will have to see it to believe it. Saying something does not make others do it. Would love to be wrong, but how in the hell does ANYBODY walk this one back?

Fuck BP, up, down and sideways.

:nuke:

I want to see the government charge them an arm and a leg for their assistance. Let the US treasury make a profit.

Fuck you, BP!

10. Unfortunately, I don't think all of the oil companies
put together have enough money to cover the potential damage. They say it will be $1 billion. I say that is way too low. It's not just clean-up.

Consider the damage done to people's livelihoods and everything else. In addition, as it keeps spewing oil, the potential for it to grow exponentially is high. Add the oil to existing currents, and who knows where it will end up.

13. Nationalize
the energy companies and the banks.

Wouldn't that massive profit look good in the US Treasury's coffers?

Just my dos centavos

The LA shrimp season was to be a boutiful one and it looks like they may lose $$$$$$$$ BP should be sued to cover their losses too. We need to stand up for the fisherman too.
