birth certificates.
tom tancredo was just on the ed show talking about obama's birth certificate. he said everyone has one that gives the name of the doctor, etc. so i pulled mine out. i have one from the hospital where i was born and another from Bureau of Records, Department of Health, City of new york. both have seals on them. a few years ago i applied for a passport. they would not accept either one of these birth certificates. i had to call new york and have another one issued, which looks like obama's -- the one that you can look up on the internet. it has my mothers name, my father's name, but not the doctors name.

so what the hell do they want?

1. They want anything but proof off his citizenship

Everyone needs to understand that they're demanding something that they know doesn't exist. And they're doing it very loudly to add distraction.

the "one-drop rule" only "worked" as long as the person stayed in their own little enclave. Many light-skinned "black" people moved elsewhere and no one was the wiser:)

My son dated a girl whose mother was Japanese and whose dad was Jamaican. She was black and asian, but her "asian-ness" was the most obvious , since she was very fair-skinned.. She was a dropdead gorgeous young girl.. Long jet-black hair, tall like her Dad ... a wonderful combination:)

7. My original birth certificate wasn't acceptable.
For my passport. Had to get a 'Certificate of Live Birth' one from the state of VA. You can't get much more official than that, and I know that's what the president has. If it's good enough for getting a passport it should be good enough for being the legit prez.

BTW, what other president has ANY group challenged their birth?? The only answer is that this is racially motivated.

30. Weren't you registered someplace though? My husband was delivered by a midwife...
... in Belgium, in his parents' home, and he definitely has a birth certificate. It's in French, so he's had to get certified translations a few times over the years, but it exists.

I'm just curious, because you're not the only DUer to say that you have no BC because of being born at home.

15. Mine is just like Obama's
WITHOUT even my parents names. In 1952 when my Dad applied for VA benefits, the Bureau of Vital Statistics of NYC sent the VA my Dad's, my Mom's, and my ORIGINIAL BCs. They subsequently LOST the originals. The only thing that remains was our listing in the Birth Index Book. It only contains the bare minimum of name, date of birth, and place of birth. The one that I have was issued in 1952 when I started school and has the official seal of the state of NY.

When I first applied for a passport in 1969, I had a LOT of trouble with them accepting this official record of birth. It took weeks of back and forth between bureaus before they finally issued me a passport. Two years ago, I applied for a new passport. Even though they didn't question my old passport, they did question this copy of my BC. I was told the only reason I was issued a passport was because somebody 40 years ago took my "short form" BC.

There is nothing nefarious about all this. In a city of 8 million people, I am sure it has happened more than once over the decades.

I don't. My mother might still have it. But I have never had to use it in my adult years (last 38 plus years). My retirement required a certificate with a seal.

actually even that's not enough, as a suspicious accent would disqualify you as well.

on the other hand, significant donations to the republican party and/or many republican office-holders could easily serve as alternative proof of citizenship.

29. They want President Barack Hussein Obama to not exist. His crime? Being Black in the White House.
My own birth cert is one of those photostats with white print on a black background. I've kept it in a safe place and never lost it, so never had to send away for an updated copy. It has all kinds of extraneous info on it, but I'll have to work from memory as I keep in in my safe deposit box at the bank. So far every agency has accepted its authenticity.

Mom was a "housewife." Dad was an aircraft mechanic (or maybe just "mechanic"). I was Mom's first birth. I was "legitimate," or at least not stamped "illegitimate." Mom and Dad may have been "Caucasian," but I don't remember. My little footsie print was on it, as was my length and weight. Of course the doc's name was on it, and the hospital (Glendale Sanitarium no longer exists I'm sure).

Maybe some state statistician was collecting all this info for a reason, but most of it is not exactly relevant to proving where and when I was born.

Mom gave birth to a full-term stillborn baby about 1952 -- did she receive a certificate of non-live birth for him? Heaven only knows, but the way the Birthers go on about Obama's supposed "certificate of live birth" you'd think there would be something like that. Ew.

My kids were born in Hawai'i in the 1970s, and there was a lot less of that sort of information required for their birth certs. Then when my daughter lost her copy and had to send away for a new one, even less info was presented on the form.

By the time she lost it again, the State of Hawai'i had put all this data into computers, and she got a printout that looks exactly like the one that has been put online for Barack Obama.

The Birthers are insane. They are insatiable and no amount of information will satisfy them. They make me hope the Secret Service and CIA are sincere about protecting the POTUS.

35. Yes, those who give birth to a child over 20 weeks get a certificate of non live birth
or sometimes it's just called a death certificate. They also get a memento box with a snip of hair, footprints and pictures of the baby. At least these days.

The birth certificate thing with Obama is not about his birth, it's about his blackness, as you pointed out.

I dunno, mine doesn't have any name of a doctor, neither do any of my kids b/c's; however, all death certificates that I've seen have a doctor's name on it....
