Fargo resident wants Conrad recalledA politically motivated desire by some North Dakotans to recall Sen. Kent Conrad has led state officials to weigh if a recall process is even possible under existing law.
Fargo legislator Blair Thoreson submitted a request this week seeking Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem’s opinion on whether North Dakota law allows for the recall of an elected federal official, such as a U.S. senator.
Thoreson’s request comes on behalf of Fargo resident Joseph Wells, who recently formed a committee to pursue the recall measure.
Wells said he plans to submit a draft petition soon to the secretary of state seeking the recall of Conrad because of “several issues that (Conrad) has voted on and not followed the will of the people of North Dakota,” including a vote in favor of health care reform.
