How many toilets does a person need in his/her house?
One more then yesterday.
Hence why it always fails and is actually a form of nihilism.
It might be they also have some issue, that can not be solved by money, but they think it can if they just reach some point, but most of it is a compulsive need for ever more.

Widespread public greed is a result of that behavior being sanctioned, encouraged by this economic system.

9. The economic system allows the rich, to get so much richer than |
|
before. During WWII, income tax rates were 90 percent. Now 37 percent with so many loop holes that these greedy bastards often pay nothing. Yes, the system encourages this.

Those rates were introduced during the New Deal, very much an emergency situation for capitalism. Once the war was over and with the US in the drivers seat capital began regaining it's pre-eminence. For a couple decades there was so much money to be had that some was allowed to the working class, not as largess but rather as a foil to the communists competition.
It is notable that the 'middle class' began slipping just as our overseas economic competitors got back in the saddle. Also notable that the screws really began to tighten as soon as the main competitor went off stage. Could it be that the Red Army was defending the American 'middle class'?

18. greed is not the cause |
|
Greed is an effect of the system, not a cause. Greed, and only greed is rewarded. The only reason anyone ever buys a stock is for the maximum return on investment. All wealth is controlled by the investors. The most greedy always win. This forces everyone to be greedy, or perish. We see the social consequences of this every day, everywhere. It is tearing the social fabric to shreds.
People buy status symbols - the few who can - because all social interactions involve people assessing the other person's status and clout based on their perceived relative material wealth, and adjusting their behavior toward the other person on that basis. That reflects the degree to which all social interactions, relationships, and conventions have been corrupted and perverted by capitalism.
We all see this, we all know this. We talk everyday about this as though these things were true, we make decisions based on these observations all the time. But when it comes to political discussions we all pretend that these things are not true, because we have been so thoroughly brainwashed from a young age to not challenge or question capitalism. That makes for some pretty bizarre political ideas and confusing and unproductive discussions about politics and social conditions. What we observe everyday all around us is at odds with what we feel we are free to think and say in the political arena.
