The impending eco-disaster is a teachable moment, if Obama wants it to be.
This is prime opportunity for him to have a "sit-down:" with the USA, and remind everyone that THIS is what government is for.. and if some want to call it "Socialism" , so be it.

The opposite of social is ANTIsocial..
That was the Katrina response.
That's the coal mine owners..
That's Big Pharma..
That's Medical Insurance of big bucks
That's Wall Street chicanery

The "social" thing to do when there's a disaster, is to HELP..even if it means helping people who hate you or at least march around telling everyone within earshot that they hate you, and wish you would die.

Being part of a UNITED country, means that sometimes you have to do the thing you don't really want to do, but you know you have to because it's the right thing to do.

We really cannot "afford" the expense of trying to clean up BP's mess, but we have to try, even if most of us will never see or set foot on that shoreline.

We have to help after hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tornados, fires, etc.

MY tax dollars pay for a lot of things I personally do not like, but it's part of being a citizen, and I accept it, because I know that if an earthquake crunched my house next week, there would be help for me too. It might not be immediate, but there would be some help on its way.

And even non-citizens' money will be spent on this and other disasters coming along.

To turn away and do nothing may be what right wingers and libertarians would like to see, but they need to rethink things because disasters arrive on even their doorsteps sometimes. wanting and expecting help when YOU need it, and gleefully denying it to others, seems to be a pretty antisocial way to live

1. He shows no signs of it so far, denying the FACT that oil rigs spilled signicant amount of oil
during the Katrina Disaster. He's promoting the Oil Rigs as avidly as John McCain?!?

5. If people truly "valued" nature,
this would never happen. It would be automatic to build-in protections in the event of an accident, a spill, a worst-case scenario, withOUT being forced to!
