"Bush's Reputation Might Be On The Rebound"

http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclatchy/3491615

Excerpt:

Is George W. Bush about to start a political comeback? Written off as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history when he left office, the 63-year-old Bush has been keeping a low profile, fading from view as the country turned its attention to his successor, President Barack Obama .

Now, some events might be turning in Bush's favor just as he and his family emerge to tell their side of the story, first with the release this week of Laura Bush's memoir, "Spoken From the Heart," then in November with the release of his book, "Decision Points."

"The rehab's well under way," said Mark McKinnon , a Bush confidant who still bikes with the former president in Texas .

"His loyalists have always believed that history would be much kinder to the president than public opinion was during his term. We also believe that leaders who make tough decisions are rarely popular when they're president, but that history puts things into context."

1. History is written by the winners...
Are we going to let the forces of neo-fascism and corporatism win?

6. Since "we" let them off the hook for a wide array of crimes and misdeeds

yeah, they win. They won. They keep the lolly, and next time they can come back and do it all over again, only worse, since they will have gained the cover of law and precedent.

2. did OJ "make a comeback" before he was finally incarcerated (for something else)?
despite what the bush lickers might think, war crminals don't "make comebacks" except, finally, to come back to stand trial.

3. It is nothing but a PR piece. It should read: Paid Republican Flacks Hope W's reputation rebounds.
We all know it never will. On Opening Day at Nationals Park, they showed a video montage of Presidents throwing out the 1st pitch. Only W was booed.

7. Dream on, I love the fact that Repukes secretly wish Dubya would
have some kind of 'rebound' but the facts are in - George W Bush was the worst president in history and will only get worse and worse as time goes on. Mark McDumbass can lie all he wants to, won't make it so...sorry Mark.

So, they base their theory and this idiotic article on the opinion of his biking buddy????

Wow. Journalism at it's finest.

Making note of the tool who wrote this piece of crap for future reference; Steven Thomma.

11. +1: We have a winner
As soon as I saw the major opinion was from one of Bush's "biking" pals, I knew the entire article was bogus. I wonder if anyone is allowed to ride ahead of the Bush, or if he still insists on "leading" every tour?

9. Can it go any other direction but up?
It takes an overpaid PR firm all its resources to spin Dubya's reputation into anything other than despicable.

10. they practically gave Reagan saint status, and he had Alzheimer's
Bush started a phony war and led the US economy to ruin, he will never be remembered as anything other than cruel, incompetent, arrogant, imbecile, and thats being kind.

I watched some of the drunk Bush videos on uTube this AM, he is such a disgrace on so many levels, IMO.

Only thing worse, the ones who have a high regard for dim son, and the things he has done.

Historians will, in time, evaluate his impact on history. This book is called "Shining the Turd."

14. The only way to rehabilitate Bush is for the 2000-2008 to go
down the memory hole and never be studied again.
