2. Fox News Has Really Stepped Over The Line This Time! Mr. Rogers Was A HERO!
I guess they also hate him because he never tried to 'monetize' his show, to try and make a bundle.

Mr. Rogers was a selfless, compassionate, and caring friend to children all over the world --AND THIS WORST KIND OF SMEAR AGAINST HIS LEGACY WILL NOT STAND!

9. He spoke at my best friend's college commencement
Fred Rogers was the real deal. He was just as warm, compassionate and caring as the persona in front of the camera. All things anathema to Fox, so it's no surprise they would vilify him.

When he was introduced as the speaker, the entire class rose and serenaded him with the first verse of "It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood." When they finished, Rogers beamed and said, "Thank you. Yes, I would like to be your neighbor."

11. There is no way to accurately measure the Good Mr. Rogers did in his lifetime and ...
... he did it in a way that placed the emphasis on his audience of children, rather than engaging in a race to make as much money as possible.

That must really get under the skin of Fox.

12. Conservatives only equate 'value' with possessions and wealth...
Conservatives have no idea what true wealth is. They believe anyone who isn't striving for more and more money are losers and deadbeats. I would rather be homeless and poor, but have a heart and compassion, rather than be rich with no heart, no empathy and no compassion. Fox News viewers must all agree with the hatred they hear or they wouldn't keep watching. It's sad there are so many evil, soulless people...

Mr.Rogers was a true follower of Jesus. The people at Fox news would crucify Jesus if he reappeared as the son of a carpenter today.

Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 01:07 PM by AnArmyVeteran
Fox News and the soulless thugs who are on their freak channel are absolutely evil. They condemn a decent, fine man like Mr. Rogers who taught so many children positive things. When will the hatred from Fox News and the right wing implode on them destroying all of the evil that is at their core?

FOX's 'Freaks & Friends' show spreading their evil about Mr. Rogers:

"They are all God's children," I say, "Obama is a child of God... Saddam Hussein was a child of God... even that no-good SOB George W. Bush is a child of God." Who would Jesus hate? When did Jesus teach you to be greedy and selfish?

Oh, it gets interesting:)

Interestingly enough, the only one that agrees with my is my Christian Missionary cousin:)

37. Conservatives don't live up to their name anymore...
Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 01:53 PM by JuniperLea
I sometimes describe myself as a conservative progressive... it gets attention. There are still many good Christians out there... too bad they get lumped in with those who use Christ's name in vain. If they don't believe that Jesus wanted us to take care of each other, to the point of giving all we have with nothing remaining, then they have no faith whatsoever. Fishes and loaves, people! Isn't that the message? Give until it hurts and "the Lord will provide"? When brown skinned people and gay people become the "new lepers" and are treated as outcasts, Jesus weeps.

It's a good thing that Jesus didn't refuse to help Lazarus, because we all know that death is a pre-existing condition.

I'm a recovering Fundy:)

39. Congratulations on your recovery...
Conservatism today is a mutant theology. It isn't a political belief. I have many conservative friends, but they are all mired in debt. They either live in houses they can't afford or have huge credit card debts. They don't live within their means. But they attack me for my beliefs even though I have zero debt. My house is paid for. I pay off my credit card bill every month. My only 'debts' are for water, electricity and 'luxuries' like satellite television. What I don't understand is how conservatives can get so filled with rage about government debt, when they can't even live their own lives free of debt. Both charity and responsibility begin at one's home.

What is ironic is that I am more fiscally responsible than any conservative I know. I am not cheap or selfish, but I am frugal and I don't waste things. Perhaps if conservatives lived their lives more frugally they wouldn't be in the financial messes they are in and they wouldn't appear as hypocritical as they are when attacking government debt, especially since they supported Bush's needless war, the huge tax break for the extremely wealthy, the passage of unfunded programs and the passage of the Patriot Act and establishment of Homeland Security.

All my conservative friends voted for Bush twice and cheered on the trillion dollar debt he amassed and the wars he started based entirely on lies. They are typical conservatives because they believe in unlimited defense spending even though a weapon system will never be used, doesn't work or wasn't even requested by the Pentagon. They love spending that builds weapons and on wars that kill people, but are totally against government trying to help anyone or be involved in health care. And they call themselves 'Christians'.

42. "And they call themselves 'Christians'"
Sounds like a good title for a book:)

I hear you. We are clearly on the same page.

I'm tired of hearing how Obama is spending the future of our grandchildren. BushCo did that. It really doesn't matter what Obama does; if it works, wonderful. If it doesn't, he didn't break anything that wasn't already broken, and we're still broke beyond human comprehension... right where BushCo left us.

Killing in the name of God... stealing in the name of God... hating in the name of God... too bad lightening bolts are out of fashion.

Mr. Rogers never said an unkind word to anyone publicly. He has never supported anything that would be hurtful to the country. And he made it his mission to help children as long as he could. He used his education (in Sociology, I believe) to teach children how to interact with others.

On the other hand FOX has done everything in its power to hurt people of all colors, sexual orientations and cultures without any remorse. They do it everyday in a mean-spirited fashion without even considering the ethics and morality of what they are doing.

They are simply repulsive to do such a thing to a man who taught millions of children during his long career.
