Now it is Obama's oil spill aka Katrina bulls**t
We are now going to watch the "so-called" liberal MSM regurgitate right wing talking points that somehow the Obama administration is responsible for this disaster. Let's not let the facts get in the way journalism is at it again. Check out the response so far, http://voices.washingtonpost.com/federal-eye/2010/04/oil_spill_the_governments_resp.html

1. I accidentally heard a RW radio host last night
when flipping through the dial, and he was screaming (don't they all?) about why did it take Obama 3 days to respond, why, why, why?

Umm, because BP said the spill was 1/5 the size it was and that they could handle it themselves?

2. It may not be his disaster
Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 02:26 PM by sharp_stick
but it is his cleanup. Now I'm really glad that we have a smart person occupying the Oval Office. This is going to be a massive mess and we need all the brains we can find to figure out a way to mitigate the damage.

Bush's fuckup, one of many, on Katrina wasn't owning the disaster is was being such a blithe asshole when it came to actually working on even a short term solution.

4. I like Bill Maher's suggestion
all those people that chanted "drill baby drill" should be flown to the area to help with the cleanup!

11. Damn good idea
but I really doubt we'll see Sarah Palin or her prop kids and husband lobbing shovelfuls of dirty sand into buckets anytime soon.

clean up the messes left by Republicans -

FDR after Harding/Cooling/Hoover left the country in the Great Depression
Jimmy Carter after Nixon's messes
Bill Clinton after Reagan & Bush's messes
and now Obama after Bush 2

8. bush was blamed for everything in the world when he was prez, how is this different?
The mine accidents, oil spill, climate change getting worse, etc.

If we are gonna be fair and consistent shouldn't we be blaming Obama?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bush Administration
In the wake of last week's mining tragedy in West Virginia, the White House has "promised a full investigation," according to Forbes.

Perhaps they can start by investigating why the Bush administration ignored mine safety warnings after Pennsylvania's big mining accident in 2002. David Sirota reported last week that George W. Bush "never responded to the fact sheet that House Democrats put out questioning why he had made so many cuts to mine safety programs."

The Bush administration later went on to propose $7 million in cuts to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. According to The Nation, "The administration defended the 6-percent reduction by noting the number of coal mines has been decreasing. Yet coal mining fatalities have gone up for three years in a row."

Not only that, but a Knight Ridder investigation revealed last week that "Since the Bush administration took office in 2001, it has been more lenient toward mining companies facing serious safety violations, issuing fewer and smaller major fines and collecting less than half of the money that violators owed."

9. Bush actually was responsible for Katrina.

I don't understand why some people have so much trouble realizing that comparing Obama and Bush is like comparing apples and oranges.

Actually, I do understand.

13. You forgot to post
the corresponding article where Obama made cuts to the Mine Safety and Health Administration or where he ignored safety warnings.

Also your article blames Bush after a second mine accident happened years after he ignored safety warnings from the first accident. The mine accident in Obama's term just happened.

Let's see how Obama's response to the accident 1 year into his first term will compare to Bush's response to the accident 1 year into his first term.

So far all you have done is shown why Bush should be blamed and Obmama shouldn't.

14. Point being
People blamed bush for everything not matter what - were they wrong for doing so or wrong for not doing so now with Obama?

Often the prez does not have a hand in day to day such stuff like mining, Indian affairs, et al.

http://www.msha.gov/MEDIA/PRESS/2010/NR100421.asp

This came out recently. A little late perhaps. Are the mine accidents Obama's fault, The government in general for not enforcing regs, etc?

In a 24 hour period how much time does one think the prez has to spend on each and every issue?

Folks on the left blamed bush for every little thing that ever went wrong, why not the same now.

Journalists blame Obama when they don't have enough milk for their cornflakes in the morning.

12. Well, I've seen plenty of DU'ers pushing this crap too. This is somehow Obama's fault . I see them
helping the RW meme, not countering it. I see it on Twitter too.

Dems are always good at attacking our own and undercutting them.
