May 1, 1971: "Free Food, Free Pot, and Free Music". How many DUers were in DC that day? |

I was among about 300,000 on Saturday and part of Sunday...probably had the shortest hair there since I was an Army draftee assigned to Ft Myer. Hard to believe it's been 39 years.

2. Vietnam Moratorium Day October 15, 1969 |
|
If not for huge anti war rallies the Vietnam War might still be going on. It was only because of the pressure from the anti-war protestors that ended that war. Some people love war, but don't like to risk their lives fighting. Rush Limblah, Dick Cheney, and hundreds of other republican chickenhawks all evaded service to their country. They were too good to die, but they still supported the war.

3. I was there. I was 13 years old. My 17 year old aunt took me. |

I held on to the agit-prop that I collected for 10 years or so until I lost it all in a slump of poverty. My mother has a great picture of me wearing my fringed cut-offs and my peace symbol headband.

4. If it was a specific war protest, I would have been. |

If it was just a big be-in, I only did the local ones. And Woodstock.
