Thank You, Mr. Moyers!
I came late to your party, but even my less-than-stellar ass knows that you, sir, are the very definition of the word "American!"

Godspeed, sir! :patriot:

1. I feel a great loss and wonder who can take up where he left off?
I hope someone steps up(or down from network TV) to
carry his style forward.

3. I feel the same way
Rachel is good. But Bill has been thoughtful, reasoned, non-combative. He just softly speaks the truth, something which a commercial network host cannot.

6. I hope he does a Cronkite
You know, doing special reports and such. Fact of the matter is, there are too many "stars," and not nearly enough actual REPORTERS!

7. I think he's planning to spend most of his time writing
and possibly traveling.

He's given us so many good years, I wish him a long and healthy retirement even if he never does anything again.

However, I don't think we've seen the last of him. I think he just wanted to get off the treadmill of the weekly program.

4. When I was a kid every network was proud to have objective, respected...
...reporters. Names like John Chancellor and David Brinkley, Roger Mudd and Walter Cronkite, and Harry Reasoner. Now, real journalists on TV are so rare that we want to weep when they retire.

We've still got Dr. Maddow. She's awesome, best TV journalist in years IMO. Kudos, Bill Moyers; enjoy your well-earned retirement.

5. Maddow IS great!
I didn't mean otherwise. But cable news is all about conflict. Sometimes, we just have to sit back and listen...

8. Not long before her death, Molly Ivins started a campaign suggesting Moyers for President
In fun no doubt, but also a beautiful dream. There were petitions. I signed. I got a lovely form letter thanking me, but stating that it wasn't going to happen. I treasure that form letter.
