What with Russia lecturing us because we allow mothers to put their kids on planes with notes saying "I don't want this child anymore". And Mexico lecturing us on being ethnically jingoistic. We need a good definition of "American exceptionalism".
How about this: "We are Americans and we do what the hell we want to do. If you don't like it, we'll bomb the shit out of you!"
BTW in regards to the adoption case. I'm reading a book that says Isaac Newton was separated from his mother and threatened to burn down his caretaker's house.
