Leviticus 19:33-34
When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt.

1. Hey! No fair, kpete. LEVITICUS and other Biblical texts can only be |
|
used to advance the RIGHT-WING agenda.
Not to defend minority populations!
You rabble-rouser, you!

4. And another with no cartoon: REV 11:18 |
|
"The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth."

5. Ha! I KNEW the pyramids were built by aliens. |
|
That's a joke so no need to correct me.
I am well aware that captive Jews were not involved in building the pyramids. There were no pyramids being built during the captivity, despite our popular mythology.

6. Lots of good stuff there. Job 29:15-17. |
|
15 I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame.
16 I was a father to the needy; I took up the case of the stranger.
17 I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims from their teeth.

12. But what about the 'Book of Conservatism'? |
|
But in the Book of Conservatism it states: "Screweth all those who believe in 15, 16 and 17, for those needing help are deadbeats".
But seriously, those are good words to live by. We should all be advocates for others who are more vulnerable or in need. But no one needs to read it out of the Bible to be a good, decent, compassionate person. People all over the world, especially indigenous tribes, are some of the most peaceful, giving and thoughtful people on the planet. But I have heard so many conservatives, especially on right wing radio, saying that no one can be good unless they are Christians or read the Bible. I find the opposite to be true.

7. Yeah, but Leviticus also said if you eat an oyster (shellfish) you are going to HELL !!! |
|
Edited on Sat May-01-10 10:18 AM by AnArmyVeteran
It said eating shellfish is an "abomination". This is the same chapter that Christians use to condemn homosexuality because Leviticus also calls men laying with men an "abomination". But these same Christians don't preach from their pulpits that eating shellfish is bad. They do condemn homosexuality though.
If interested, look at all the other cool stuff that is condemned in Leviticus. The God in the Old Testament must have had some kind of celestial wakening to go from the violence, vengeance, and punitive filled Old Testament to the New Testament. But I thought God always was and always will be. Apparently God had a change of heart, which mean God was wrong for all those years before the New Testament.
Stay away from the oysters! You will go to hell! That includes lobster bisque too.

16. So Israelites should be nicer to the Palestinians, except the Palestinians are native to that area |
|
so they are not really aliens
are they?
Does it say anything about how to treat conquered indigenous peoples?
