Bush issues letter of warning to Pelosi, Reid (choice)
Bush Sends Letters of Warning to Pelosi, Reid

In the wake of the re-introduction of the Freedom of Choice Act and following the urging of minority Republicans, Bush has issued letters of warning to Pelosi and Reid about what type of language ends up in amendments.

Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid received letters from Pres. George W. Bush stating his intent to veto any legislation produced by Congress designed to protect a woman's right to medical treatment.
...
"I will veto any legislation that weakens current federal policies and laws on abortion, or that encourages the destruction of human life at any stage," Bush wrote in the letter.

He's once again pandering to his base. The hateful and ignorant religious wingnuts.

34. Indeed it does although we sometimes forget.
EVERY stage - unborn children, pregnant women, young children, every single stage of life there is, and so many innocent civilians. Yet the idiot son "sleeps very well at night", per a recent "People" magazine interview. Must be because he's so conservative with his compassion.

14. I'm still waiting for my DOCTOR Congressman Tom Coburn to explain to me
when a life becomes worthless.

The Republicans think nothing of forcing a female to have a baby if she gets pregnant. How she got pregnant apparently doesn't matter to many of them. If she was forcibly raped by her Father, Brother, Uncle, or the gang of hoodlums down the street, it matters not.

But pity that child once it's born. Being born into poverty isn't a problem. Nor is a lousy education in the public school system. Lack of medical care is also no big deal. And sending them off to war to be slaughtered by IEDs is also perfectly fine.

Coburn hasn't responded to any of my 3 inquiries asking exactly when a human life becomes worthless. Whether it be when the water breaks, when the cord is cut, or at some later point.

They are all hypocrites. I cannot stand them. IMPEACH! IMPEACH!! IMPEACH!!!

And if there's a God in Heaven, may he make sure there is NEVER another Republican in the White House. EVER.

It will just bring more attention to what an asshole he is. Who can determine when life "begins"...Oh, wait a minute, there is a guy here in NE that says that each sperm and each egg possess 1/2 a soul each; when they combine, a whole soul is entered into the embryo...

on edit: even after Spell Check, "Is" came out "Ia"...I didn't even know there was an "Ia" in the language...:D

Maybe Ia=Iowa...

What if Jenna or Not Jenna's organs began shutting down and the only hope of saving her lay in late term abortion?

41. These rules don't apply to rich white people!
If Jenna or Barbara get pregnant out of wedlock, a rich white daddy would make a call to a rich white doctor.......problem solved!

OR

There is that month vacation in Europe....Problem solved!

In the Republican Mind, they are the exception because they can buy their way out. This is America. The rules only apply to Wage Slaves and lower classes.

31. A President in search of a legacy, how sad.
Evidently the bulging flight suit has come back to haunt him, so he may as well try being principled.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have both been around long enough to know not to take the bait, thereby giving President Bush something to hang his hat on. I am quite sure that they would have an override in pocket before attempting to pass legislation that President Bush, in his desperation, would veto 'on principle'.

It isn't good enough for him to sign some bill which discusses something which isn't even a medical procedure, now he's worried that someone might protect women and families. Who the hell does he think he is? God?

If this SCOTUS ruling had been in effect in 1995, I'd be dead. SCOTUS, POTUS, or our Congress has absolutely no business deciding something like that for a family. Only I should have the right to decide when and if I want to put my own life on the line.
