Wall St To USA (Email): " Go ahead & continue to take us down-you're only going to hurt youselves"
Posted on 04/30/10 at 1:40pm by Joshua Brown

This hideous little piece of class warfare is supposedly making the rounds on Wall Street today. Its Us-Vs-Them theme is sickening. The lobbies of JPMorgan and several other banks were flooded with protesters downtown yesterday, I'm guessing that this was written by a frustrated Wall Streeter in response to the populist uprising.

"We are Wall Street. It's our job to make money. Whether it's a commodity, stock, bond, or some hypothetical piece of fake paper, it doesn't matter. We would trade baseball cards if it were profitable. I didn't hear America complaining when the market was roaring to 14,000 and everyone's 401k doubled every 3 years. Just like gambling, its not a problem until you lose. I've never heard of anyone going to Gamblers Anonymous because they won too much in Vegas.

Well now the market crapped out, & even though it has come back somewhat, the government and the average Joes are still looking for a scapegoat. God knows there has to be one for everything. Well, here we are.

Go ahead and continue to take us down, but you're only going to hurt yourselves. What's going to happen when we can't find jobs on the Street anymore? Guess what: We're going to take yours. We get up at 5am & work till 10pm or later. We're used to not getting up to pee when we have a position. We don't take an hour or more for a lunch break. We don't demand a union. We don't retire at 50 with a pension. We eat what we kill, and when the only thing left to eat is on your dinner plates, we'll eat that.

3. So we need to make sure a Wall Street Person gets better treatment
then the Working Class? When do we get to start piking their heads, I'm poor and I bet a rich Wall Street Person would taste pretty good right about now.

4. Sounds like the fevered rantings
of an Ayn Randian true believer.

You're gonna take my job? That's a laugh. My company demands that I actually produce something.
Wall Street is very talented at building bubbles, nothing more.

5. Where has this been making the rounds?
The article doesn't cite any sources as far as I can tell. It's hard to tell if this isn't just made up.

27. My sentiments exactly.
Just how many ways have they screwed us over? They can take that answer and triple it.

These guys are acting like the bunches of spoiled brats we always new they were. They afraid of losing their giant bonuses and perks, their Jersey homes and Manhatten penthouses, etc.

Fuck 'em.

9. I wonder why Obama doesn't demonize Wall St more in his speeches.
Maybe because it would feel good but only make reform more difficult to accomplish? Maybe he can get more done by peeling away support from SOME of the Wall Street crowd and dividing them against each other rather than uniting them in opposition?

10. Many years ago I read a book on techniques of day trading.
What it said, literally, was (as near as I can remember) "You make a profit by taking the other trader's lunch money. If it bothers you that you're taking food off his family's table, then find another occupation. If you have a bad conscience about taking another man's money then you will never be a successful trader."

After reading that I decided I could never become a day trader.

11. So a few thousand former Wall Street execs are going to take millions of working-class jobs?
Ummm... logical fallicy, methinks.

"Gee, I'm worth $10 million. Do I a) sell the McMansion and move into a $350k 4-bedroom in a decent sububrb and live comfortably off my savings, or b) get a job that involves showering after work?"

Hmmmm... decisions, decisions...

Too big to fail, to big to exist.

13. It is not the lower class versus the upper class.
Edited on Sat May-01-10 01:27 PM by RandomThoughts
That is no different then upper class versus lower class.

It is what ideals do we as a people expect in people that have effects over society. And how should people with those abilities to effect society get that power, what attributes of a person should deem them worthy of setting social policy?

24. That last paragraph got me the most.;
(the rest is typical dog-eat-dog, survival of the "fittest" crap which is indicative of typical RW entitlement thought process'... too subjective and ingrained in their shallow minds to challenge).

But the implication that the rest of us don't understand what a hard day's work is like. WTF? We DUer's could have a field day with that. At least this one can. But OMG, where to begin?... and sadly, with the current state of affairs, would such a dialog matter?

31. Probably some little dip-shit just out of college
Of course nobody was complaining when everything was going up; why would they? People were duped by Wall Street into thinking they were buying attractive investments; banks made billions knowing the investments were crap.

Just as a precaution, though, I'm hiding my dinner plates. YOU'RE NOT EATING MY EXPENSIVE DINNER PLATES.

34. This person doesn't realize...
... there are those of us who have been playing the game for more years, for much higher stakes: the lives of our families and those we love. His advantage came from the fact that he would disregard the ethics that most of us follow. He doesn't realize that we've reached the point where we will give no quarter.

All I can say to you brokers: "Bring it, bitches." We'll see who is left standing at the end of the day.
