Sarah Palin endorsed the GOP nominee for Minnesota governor before his endorsement
He (Tom Emmer) is far to the right. Help elect the first female governor of Minnesota, Margaret Anderson Kelliher. Here's a recent email:

Dear DFLer,

The Republican Party of Minnesota sent a clear message when they endorsed the Sarah Palin-approved, ultra-right wing candidate Tom Emmer: they want the next governor of Minnesota to be even more reactionary than Tim Pawlenty. And if you look at what he’s saying, you can see they found a candidate that fits the bill:

“You cannot be a Democrat and a Freedom loving American.”

-Rep. Tom Emmer, at a campaign event in Marshall, MN on September 25, 2009

“What Arizona did was a wonderful first step. I’m disappointed at the federal government that’s taking issue with the state of Arizona.”

-Rep. Tom Emmer, “Midday” on Minnesota Public Radio, April 28, 2010 in regard to Arizona’s new immigration law

Without a doubt, Tom Emmer will pander to Tea Party extremists and align himself with politicians like Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin before improving the lives of Minnesotans. We cannot let out of touch Tom Emmer become Minnesota’s next governor.

Contribute today to keep right-wing extremists out of the governor’s office.

Tom Emmer supports repealing Minnesota’s strongest-in-the-nation renewable energy standard. Not only is that suggestion morally irresponsible, it would put Minnesota at a competitive disadvantage with other states that recognize the green economy is a key to job creation.

Your donation of $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford will allow our campaign to keep the conversation focused on the issues that matters most to Minnesotans – rebuilding our economy and getting Minnesotans back to work.

Donate now.

Out of touch Tom Emmer and the Republicans will try to scare voters with the same tired rhetoric they’ve always used. But we know Minnesotans expect more from their leaders. If you and I continue to make this campaign about creating jobs and growing the economy, investing in education, and providing quality health care for all Minnesotans, we will win in November.

Sincerely,

Jaime Tincher

Campaign Manager

P.S. – Help keep up the momentum from Margaret’s win at the DFL State Convention. Please consider donating $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to make this campaign about issues and not rhetoric.

1. is it the long winters? The lack of sun? too much cocaine & smack?
what is it about Minnesota? You folks come up with some truly great people and ideas, and then, you give us Bachmann churner over drivel, Pawlenty and others.

2. Every state at some point has their Katherine Harris or Sarah Palin ;)
There are some conservative pockets. Also, it is important to note that the reason we haven't had a Democratic governor in 20 years is because there are usually 2-3 candidates from the left and one from the right. Pawlenty has never won with more than about 45% of the vote. This year, the Independence Party candidate is a conservative Republican so their vote will be split. We have a big opportunity this year, but the GOP will be mobilized and well funded, so Margaret Anderson Kelliher (MAK) needs our help. I do think she will win.
