The BP Oil Spill typifies just about everything wrong
Edited on Sat May-01-10 03:32 PM by IndianaJoe
with the governmental posture of the prior Bush administration:

1. A let-business-do-whatever-it-wants mentality that was thematic in the Bush administration.

2. Politicians (Dem and Republican) in the Gulf States taking mammoth political contributions to promote oil industry interests and off-shore drilling to the detriment of their own constituencies.

3. Installation of industry representatives and political ideologues to monitor industry activities and formulate energy policy

4. Cavalier disregard of the need for top-of-the-line safety equipment

5. A total lack of competent contingency planning for foreseeable disasters.

6. Crass disregard for the environment.

7. Sacrificing clean energy policy to short-term private industry profit-mongering

8. A totem-pole lack of accountability

9. Cutbacks in the funding of regulatory personnel and equipment

10. Stonewalling by Republicans of Obama's appointment of competent regulatory personnel

The same old song we kept hearing over and over again with Katrina.

3. These greedy
boyz HATE Mother Nature....they're part of those 'Dominionists' who think Mother Earth is here just to be raped of every bit of oil, metals, gas, coal, vitamins, etc.

Now maybe people will see that these 'man-made machines' are no comparison to Mother Nature. We will all learn the hard way.

BP/Haliburton should be shut down. If these Corporations insist on being people....then it's time for their funeral.

5. That's because Cheney/Bush knew that catastrophe was "inconceivable."

That's why apparently Cheney eliminated the requirement for an acoustic cut off switch; something which most of the world requires in their deep sea oil drilling, in his secret energy meeting with the oil and mining corportions.

So Cheney has truly dazzled us with his brilliance, long term vision and we're enjoying the benefits of his wisdom now.

Thanks for the thread, IndianaJoe.
