Earth First! or other eco-terrorist group was involved in Gulf Nightmare...
Series, just saw it suggested on a surfboard design site I hang out at.
The poster would even bet on it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go clearcut an old growth forest for Gaia. BBL.

10. The freepers were blaming Earth first as well.
Earth First does non-violent direct action. Some people associated with them did some tree spiking early on, but it was stopped long ago.

They are not eco-terrorists, and they certainly don't have the resources to sneak into a site one mile below the sea to sabotage an oil drilling rig. It would take a lot more than a snorkel and some explosives.

The cause of this disaster actually seems to be yet another example of the vile assholes at Halliburton cutting corners to save a little money. (See Iraq, where they served up contaminated water to our troops, and did faulty electrical work that resulted in electrocutions of soldiers.

Same old shit. The real blame, of course, goes back to The Big Dick and his trained chimp, who made sure they could get away with this kind of negligence.

11. Complete horseshit.
And trying to pass the blame off on some anonymous poster at another site in webspace is about as cowardly and weasely as it gets. FYI when you put it up in the title of a post here by insinuation at the very least it becomes yours and I call a great big BULLSHIT penalty because you don't have a single thing that points or even hints at Earth FIrst! being involved in this in any fucking way. Since I couldn't say it in a post title I'll try it again here. Go.Fuck.Yourself.

15. You.
follow the lines. You come on here and claim Earth! First is responsible for deepwater horizon rig explosion and the catastrophe in the gulf. I'll try and make it very plain so even you can understand it. You don't have a source except"some poster" on a "surfing site" you go to.No experts in oil wells, fisheries, recvery from oil spills, terrorism or even from the enviro or law enforcement community. So again I say, w/ emotion,go fuck yourself. Can you understand that? I don't think I can make it any plainer w/o visual aids.

22. I do believe what set nosmokes off was the title of your OP.
While I am on your side denouncing this idiocy (thank you for the link), if this meme spreads, at some point a google search of "gulf oil spill" may result in some links that blame Earth First and your post amongst the results.

Sometimes I wince at the titles of the OPs on DU because, even though the intent is opposite, they seem to promote that which the author is against.

26. Excellent response!
I've done a bunch of Earth First actions, including Redwood Summer and Albion Uprising. I lived in Southern Humboldt for quite awhile, and Darryl Cherney is an old pal of mine. That's how I got involved.

Earth First Rocks!

23. Oil rigs
are secure facilities. This one was located 46 miles offshore in 5000 feet of water. You don't approach one without being seen. I am pretty sure that they don't just let you get on one with explosive devices. As bad as the bits of eco-terrorism that have happened are for the movement as a whole, there is no evidence that eco-terrorists possess such capabilities as would be required for this suggested undertaking. It seems that they need a scapegoat and are looking absurdly hard to find one.
