Thad Allen should be fired

Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen said in an interview Friday that the company's plans for responding to oil spills did not address the complete failure of equipment on the seafloor designed to prevent a blowout of the sort that took place on the massive drilling rig.

"We're breaking new ground here. It's hard to write a plan for a catastrophic event that has no precedent, which is what this was," Allen said, defending the company against not writing a response for "what could never be in a plan, what you couldn't anticipate."

WTF? Everyone with common sense knows that this 'worse case scenario' was possible. To be so dismissive and admit there was not even a plan in place or even required it absurd. He needs to go. Someone with this mindset is dangerous when it comes to prevention.

like this in Australia a while back and it took them 10 weeks to contain the mess. And what corporation in this day and age doesn't have a disaster recovery plan? It's all part of ISO and they have to have a process before a corporation can be certified. Now, tell me how this is unprecedented?
