An individual person was responsible for the worst environmental oil disaster

The worst oil-related ecological calamity to date was, by far, the intentional destruction of the Kuwaiti oil-fields when Iraq pulled out of Kuwait in 1991.

I think we should have left Saddam Hussein in power. (Short of immolating myself I'm not sure how I could have been more against the Iraq War.)

But Saddam sure was one hell of a sociopath.

(This post has no particular agenda. It's just interesting to me that a person would destroy an ecosystem out of spite, even though his own nation was part of the ecosystem.)
