3. The wingnuts have been invading the CBS polls since the Rather deal
Their polls are just hopeless and won't change anything anyway.

6. The right wingers have gotten people to vote against gay rights
So now they are extending that ability to get people to vote against brown peoples' rights. I wonder what group will be next? Jews? Atheists? Catholics?

Because I know it is coming if this continues.

9. WHY are homeless people ALWAYS left off these lists? WHY is that?
Because that is exactly WHY we are the most vulnerable.... we are invisible to even "progressives".

Maybe you haven't heard of homeless people being killed on the street, without anyone giving a shit?

?????????

10. Recommended.

Even here on DU, I see a lot fewer posts about homelessness than gay rights, immigration, wall street, feminism, etc. Why, on a supposedly progressive site, is homelessness given so little attention. How many posts about Arizona did we see last week? How many about the Oklahoma abortion law? Where was the concern for homelessness? I guess it's somehow just not "progressive" enough.

11. Its not "in", its not SEXY.
And just watch.... I will be criticised for "highjacking a thread".

Then they wonder why, come November, most of us will say "To hell with voting... they don't give a shit about us."

Not just a lack of concern for us, they are shooting themselves in the foot by dismissing us AND our votes!

14. You hit the nail on the head.
BTW, I remember so many homeless on the streets when I was in Denver. I hope the homeless in Fort Collins are treated better. In Denver, they were (and likely still are) harassed by police, drug dealers, young rich punks, etc. It's disgusting how people like to hurt the less fortunate of our society.

15. Homeless people are harrassed all over the country. For the same reason... "progressives" don't
a shit.

If its posted here at all, its blamed on "those awful right-wingers", and that is the end of it. I have come to see it as nothing more than USING us to rail against the people they already dislike.

If this were happening to other groups, as you say, there would be an explosion. The ONLY group battling this at all is the Southern Law Poverty, or Southern Poverty Law, or whatever it is. :)

I have tried and tried and tried to organize some action on DU, and there are plenty of things that can be done.

But, we are just scum.

So, forget MY vote. I've had it with the duplicity!

13. Because the rights of the homeless are tied to the rights of more visible groups
And we are far too prone to consider the homeless the "invisibles" - even when they are in our cities and towns in plain sight.

I am as guilty as anyone. In my defense, I am seldom in even a small urban area and homeless are not seen at all in my rural neighborhood. If they are here, they are camping in the woods and never seen on the roadways.

16. that's hogwash, and you know it. Its one more way to say, "Wait your turn. There are more importan
causes."

:grr:

Oh, and I am willing to bet there ARE homeless people around you. They just don't fit your stereotype, so you don't recognize them. We HIDE in plain sight, for safety, and because we know you would reject us if you knew.

If you really believe there aren't homeless people in rural areas, then please do some reading.

7. And nationwide, the majority favor the AZ law...
If that is true....if... then the Democrats might want to think twice about making immigration "the" political issue before November's elections. The President might want to follow his gut on this one. He said he did not think this was a good time to vote on immigration reform because people were so divided and emotional about it. It is not the right environment to enact good legislation. He may be right?

12. Good thing civil rights aren't something to be polled about, eh subaltern?
The rights of minorities are not up to the whims of the majority. Or they shouldn't be.
