Will the stupid ever end?

I've been looking around for a different place to live as I have a little Filipina girl coming to live with me sooner or later (Gov't. red tape. Argh!) and I saw a place yesterday on my way home from work. I stopped and decided to check it out a bit. Corner lot, fenced in yard, garage in back, best pizza in town half a block away, not too bad of a place. I noticed that nobody was home, so I didn't go in, but I saw a neighbor standing outside and decided to talk to him for a few minutes.
Me, "Howdy."
Him, "Hi. Thinking about buying this place?"
Me. "I don't know. I'm just sort of looking around right now. What's this neighborhood like? Good neighbors?"
Him. "Lot's of blacks around here."
Me. "Yeah. Are the neighbors all right? No crime? Places for kids to play? safely?"
Him. "Darkies are ruining the neighborhood. Used to be ok down here. Nnow it's always dark."
Me. "What's your point?"
Him. "They've taken everything over. Can't even walk around here anymore. Damn N###!"
Me. "See ya. I ain't moving in next to an asshole."
He probably stared stupidly at me after that. I didn't look back so I can't really say for sure. Just got in my car and went home. Had a couple of beers with a black guy and the gay couple across the street. And enjoyed the evening with good people.

always prefered my black friends. i did an estate sale in a gentrifying neighborhood still more black and had pleasant interactions w/ blacks there.
my uncle, a former bartender would say he is married to a black woman to disarm racists. or act gay when a gaybasher would open their piehole. loved having the haters insert their feet into their mouths.

We are awaiting an appointment date for my wife and the little Filipina girl, the daughter, to get the interview and VISA. I have a Congressman's aide working on it. He specializes in immigration issues (the aide) and my Congressman is a GREAT Rep. Bruce Braley, in case you were wondering.

You're a good man Bluzmann57! You have all my respect, it's a wonderful thing you've done. I jumped in the wrong direction in my earlier response and regret it. I think you know where I was coming from though. That aside, congratulations, it's nerve-wracking dealing with that paperwork shuffle and you made it through. I'm happy for you, as a Filipino and also adopted I wish you and your new family, Naimbág a gásatyo ! ( Good Luck ! )
