What type of person?

Would drive an SUV with tinted windows? And with an extra tire on the back door? With license plates from a Connecticut junk yard?

Is it possible to get a profile from this information alone?

Do you have tinted windows? Do you have an extra tire on the back of your vehicle? Do you travel a lot in the mountains? Is there a certain type of person that would visit a "junkyard"?

I suppose it would be impossible to get a profile from only that information? But if I were guessing, it would be a male. Maybe lower middle-class? Between 25-35 years of age. Probably acting alone? Maybe an anti-government person? Probably an high school education? Possibly the child of parents from another country?

Pure speculation. I confess.

It's kind of stupid to think transferring a license plate is going to do much good. And if you want to cause damage, why choose such a large vehicle. I'm not sure you can conclude much of anything except this person was as dumb as the first trade center bombers. It could mean Times Square is the next target though, we'll have to see who ends up being the suspect.

It could have been a simple trial run. To see how quick the police react? To see how many people are gathered at the location? To see how the media portrays it? etc.

...would use a vehicle that can be traced back to them rather than using a stolen vehicle. One of the news outlets reported that the person/s involved attempted to remove the vin #, but was unaware that the vin is located in many places on a vehicle. From this bit of info the profile of stupid seems to fit the pattern of a limbaugh-loving winger.

I have a small SUV - I haul a lot of art materials around in it (bags of cement and such).

My back windows are tinted so if I have valuables in there, it's that much less tempting for people to notice & break in. It's not uncommon for me to have a few thousand dollars of video equipment there.

When I lived in a warmer area (florida) I had tinted windows to keep the car from getting so hot.

I've bought car repair parts from the local junkyard.

Interesting to hear I am likely a lower middle class 25-35 year old male with a high school education and my parents are probably foreigners.

I wish agencies would profile based on behavior, that's what they do in Israel.

Profiling based on race and ethnicity is what is wrong and stupid. Even if you conclude the bomber was a jihadist, you still shouldn't conclude it's a swarthy male foreigner. It could be anybody who has taken up the cause.
